Hi👋Thank you so much for the review and awesome footage! We wanted to offer the viewers some notes from mothership. The HD 5-- chassis is terrific for A) the transducer geometry B) long term comfort C) producing a closed back at scale where leakage variances cannot be tolerated. The HD 6-- series is open and hand-assembled, so variances in the baffle assembly, etc are negligible. Neither the 5-- nor the 6-- are good candidates to fold up, however. We indeed increased the depth of the ear cavity vs the old 5-- series by about 5mm, based on user feedback. For tuning, we wanted to straddle clarity and balance with fun so that you get vibe without straying too far from the original recording. With regard to soundstage, we'll respectfully debate you on that and designed it to be a panoramic experience, especially compared to the the closed-back category--ultimately we hope anyone reading and watching gets a chance to try them with a favorite source and set of test tracks🎧 Great work and we welcome the feedback (pun intended)💙 Edit: HD 620S is wired for balanced and a 4.4mm cable is coming mid-summer 2024

Awesome video as usual! Quick question to you and any other experts, do headphone extension "clicks" on the headband have to match for the left and right side? Does this affect sound quality? Or should I just look for the most comfortable fit?

There are no detents, and they can be adjusted asymmetrically---most of us do not have ears in the exact same "latitude", so you would just adjust them to where they are most comfortable. They have a wide sweet spot, so its pretty easy to find.. We chatted about this in another video comment but thought the other readers might find the answer of value.

Hello, I just want to use one earphone and don't want to be tired of switching devices all the time depending on the type of music. I listen to 80% classical and 20% jazz and pop. I I think I like mm500 very much, and I think the instrument part is quite good, and the vocals are in the front, so the female voice sounds good. Do you recommend other headphones at this level? I think the Sound Stage of the mm500 is ok. For classical music, the instrument is not too modified and artificial, the low-frequency dive is enough for jazz. I'm still looking for a sound I like, maybe you can give me some advice or other information.

Always wanted a HD6x line closed back, so thank you Sennheiser for your efforts on this one, however... Guessing it uses the same super-microphonic cable as the rest of the HD5xx line - is it not possible to make a cable using the same materials as the HD6x cables? Also this chassis is notoriously quite creaky and plasticky, which is okay if you never move your head at all... I think this would have been a no-brainer if the price was $200 - $250 as Joshua mentioned. Unfortunately there is no place in my country to test these so I need to rely on reviews and comparisons to make sense of the pros and cons.

The 620s looks like a closed back version of the open back version of the 520s with a different number and line from sennheiser line of headphones. I wonder if any of the current sennheiser engineers would consider engineering the close back marble version of the open back version of the sennheiser hd 600. I have the marble version of the sennheiser hd 600 and I have been looking for the same sound signature, same tuning, same frequency response, same drivers as the sennheiser hd 600 but in a close back version, even the same 300 ohm impedance. Basically clone the original marble version of the hd 600 or even the redesigned version of the current hd 600 but have it close back instead of open back with the same exact specs and features. I have the neumann ndh20 close back headphones. I don't know how many hours of burn in I did with my neumann headphones because I did not keep track of it. When I first bought them, the bass was not as warm until I burned them in but the bass response is leaning towards the warmth side because the engineers for neumann design the headphones to be similar to the hd 650 or the hd 6XX.

It's because everyone has different ears lol. And possibly because while it may sound airy and have great imaging for positional audio - it may still not sound as wide as some people desire. Not saying it's narrow etc, but no closed back can sound as wide as an open back. I just ordered these for gaming, but i prioritize imaging with a preference for an airy sound over having the biggest /widest soundstage. I don't need to sound like I'm in an empty stadium the size of a football field for games lol. But spatial /positional audio details for a good closed back is what's rare imo. Even if the details are in a slightly smaller 'size' than open backs. Can't wait to try my pair when delivered lol. It is well extended in the sub bass, a bit colder in the lower mid range, it has a bit of an hifiman dip in the 1.5kHz/2kHz to 3kHz and it is slightly emphasised over 4kHz. I think it sounds really amazing especially for a closed back at this price. Those HD620S headphone drivers so look like just another HD595 on Senn's site. Those closed-back HD5xx chassis are junk, and Sennheiser doesn't try and attenuate the resonances inside of the cups, though they perplexingly did for the old HD360pro portable headphone. Pioneer's HRM7 gets fiberglass dampening inside, DT770 gets that thick white wool ring behind each driver, the classic DT660 gets a bunch of wool so you don't hear the cup resonances, and audiophiles from its time all recommended it as the only closed back worthy of classical music because of its good tuning and very balanced tonality. DT880pro has a bunch of wool inside to help it not sound cavernous like closed Senns and most closed Audio-technicas tend to. Sennheiser is oddly lazy. If you are unsure of bass interfering with the mids, use an equalizer to attenuate midbass 6dB or something to find out, simple as that. Bass definitely steps all over the midrange in HD25, lol!
