A similar way to fix the UV that works for most cases (only if the UVs are correctly spaced) is to copy the painted layer. After that, you want to apply gaussian blur and duplicate it a lot of times depending on the amount of blur applied. Once there's enough layers to make an outline of the UVs, merge them together and put them behind the original layer. As I said before, you need to give some space between the differents parts but it will work in most cases. If your editor allows for it, set up a macro that does this to speed up your workflow. Hope this helps!

Great! Thank you. My 2 cents: If you use a Texture Atlas for all your 3D Character's Textures: I wouldn't use Mipmaps on them, I'd rather use a well configured LOD (Level Of Detail) setting + Streaming the Textures (in general), if you want to keep the Performance in check.

Very useful. I was driving crazy because of this problem and wasn't able to find a proper solution. Happy to see the explanation about the mipmaps, didn't know they worked like that. By the way, is there any way to limit the generated mipmaps or stablish a minimum resolution for them?

Mine is a little harder to solve. I use 8x8 pixel art as my textures. Both the character(with some parts being 4x4) and the environment. I use tileset of 8x8 per tile, with the file size beiong 32x32 total. :/
