Thank you mate. In all honesty, this device is an absolute game changer! The racetorx really stiffens up the gear linkage and takes away the slack which practically eliminates false neutrals. This device will also dramatically reduce wear on the gear shifter and it’s the best mid I’ve done to this bike. Highly recommend it!

@ Sean, I knew that’s what you were going to come back with, you’re right we make use of ours. I’m going to make a video about the top box I bought for the R1250R, ordered the bloody thing from Italy. GIVI advertised their latest Limited Edition with Special White metallic paint, a pillion pad and stop light /indicators with charging socket pre installed. The market price is around £380 though I paid £320, on top of that UK customs charged £86 VAT ☹️ It arrived sparkling white with pillion pad but no bloody electrics 🤬 Should have bought a Shad for around half the price. Still once they see my false advertising video I recon they’ll regret misleading people.
@BMCMOTOUK
@BMCMOTOUK 22 күн бұрын
I look forward to seeing that video Michael. As soon as you said “Italy” I knew there would be a customs comment, that’s catching a lot of folk out. The panniers are useful on the bike and we do make full use of ours and they aren’t just for show and they also give the bike a better road presence lol. These nuggets you see with the roof boxes on their BIG cars are purely for show and I can guarantee you all they have in them is fresh air and don’t get me started on roof tents. I still see a lot of cars in the city with these hideous things on their roofs, I bet after the soggy damp winter their tents will smell like a damp dog lol
@greywolf9292
@greywolf9292 22 күн бұрын
I was aware of the VAT so I expected it, though I notice some Italian companies now stating they give an invoice showing VAT charged. I assume this way there’s no extra cost to the consumer. It’s funny how E.U. goods are available for sale here with no added cost , including German cars and motorcycles. I was considering the BMW panniers but they’re very expensive. I may opt for the Oxford soft panniers which are two tone ( blue and white) and would match the bike better. The only two videos showing the Limited edition GIVI top box both state the pre installed electrics. That’s what justified the extra cost to me, I even planned to drill my mounting plate to accept the wiring connection. They don’t even have electrics available as an accessory 😠😤

Nice cool weather, we are having a top of 41c today, got to go to doc and dentist today so it will be tee shirt on the bike today, but only local town riding. Hey, great setup. Having the same bike and looking for a luggage solution. Think about the same setup as yours. Would u say that each site of the givi rack can carry 20lbs or would it break done? And did u only mount it on the rack or also with straps over the seat? Drive safe.
@BMCMOTOUK
@BMCMOTOUK Ай бұрын
Hi mate and thanks for your comment. This set up was home made. The rack is a standard Givi rack and the kriega plates were mounted to the rack using hydraulic pipe clamps which held the lomo soft bags very securely, in fact they didn’t move throughout the trip and I covered 3500 miles! With the lomo bags there is a strap to connect them that runs over the seat but in all fairness it’s just belt and braces. The lomo bags were threaded through the slots on the Kreiga plates. The plates weren’t cheap but well worth it and no additional holes were needed as the holes to line up with the brackets and the pannier frame lined up spot on. If I get a chance over the winter I’ll make a short video on this set up. After the tour I removed the pannier rack but left the frame in place to allow me to keep the top box as this bike is just a commuter bike for me now. All the best, Sean.
@BMCMOTOUK
@BMCMOTOUK Ай бұрын
Oh to answer your question about the weight, 20lbs would probably be your limit as you need to consider the stability and also the more weight you carry the more fuel you’ll use. I averaged about 62mpg on this trip when the bike was fully loaded.

The old BMC site here is long gone and the only thing that remains is the street names which were named after vehicles that the BLMC made. After the plant shut down the BLMC would store thousands of cars on the site then they were distributed to the dealerships up here

Just watched this, few years ago so realise you might not see this comment. I’m a lifelong biker started off in the 70’s first bike was a 200cc then a number of 250’s before rising in cc’s through the 80’s and 90’s. Back then of course there were far more bikes and learners than people who’d passed their test you could ride forever on a provisional up to 250cc with no regulations on power although to be fair most weren’t that powerful back then. I sat my test back in the days when the examiner ran from corner to corner and you rode round a square. I remember getting back to the test centre and the theory test so standing outside he showed me two things in a Highway Code book asked what they were and that was it all done and dusted. Always had a bike even when I worked abroad in places like Australia one of the first things I did was get a bike.

Fantastic story and thanks for watching. The test is a lot different now. My car/ bus and HGV tests were just driving and answering a couple of questions but the bike test, that was a bit of nonsense to be honest. 3 parts to gain your licence? I understand that we need safe and competent drivers but the bike test could easily be done in one go. A lot of my friends done the same test as you but I was late to the party so had to do the theory/ mod 1 & 2. Fortunately I passed all 3 first time!
