I think the leagues should be 18 teams max. 1 proper domestic cup. If a 2nd domestic cup then teams that qualify for Europe don't participate. 1 less international break. 6 CL games before the knockout phase. Everyone gives a little and there's time for a proper break. Probably wouldn't even cost money as they could shrinkflation it like they do with Mars bars. If you want to watch Serie A, CL, EPL etc you'll still pay the subscription even if it's a couple less games.

Great episode guys. From personal experience I had an acl injury 4 years ago playing football. That day I remember the pitch was really tough and I was unlucky but tried to control the ball on the right touch line and pivot at the same time, and did my left acl then. I had hamstring graft surgery, recover went really well and I’ve been getting better and better at football. Now I play more as a centre mid rather than striker but I’ve adapted my game well and still score goals with my left foot. You mentioned the pitch, yes this is critical players have the correct type of boots for the pitch. Companies make special AG stud versions for the artificial grass pitches, which are inherently firmer and less forgiving grounds to play on. Also, I’ve noticed with a lot of the pros they use the metal soft ground (SG) stud patterns, and I believe this has something to do with it, because they have less studs dispersing the pressure under foot on every step, twist and turn, which increases the likelihood of the injury. I think all pros should ensure to wear boots with less aggressive studs, especially now that they are playing more and more with less rest, which is also the main contributing reason we are seeing all these injuries happening.

I think it’s an exaggeration and sensationalist to say that Douglas Luiz is having a nightmare. By that statement it’s seems as if he’s been terrible in every game he’s played which is not true. I’ve watched a lot of Juventus this season and when he’s come on he’s played decent or well. Against Genoa he was good for the period of time he was on. He looks for the ball, he’s very comfortable on the ball, he plays some good passes. It’s hard to make an unbelievable impact from the bench. He needs a start to show his proper ability. The Italian media is saying it’s a nightmare as well but they’re just trying to create headlines. Giving a penalty away is bad but to say he’s having a nightmare is way over the top. Also there’s no excuse for diving. If someone feels contact goes down it’s a yellow card. All this cheating, dicing and simulation needs to be rid from the game.
@ItaFootPod2 күн бұрын
Aside from barely playing and starting to when he plays let alone starts he gifts away penalties, on the back of costing €60m you mean? IMHO it's frankly intellectually dishonest to not call this a nightmare good minutes against powerhouse Genoa notwithstanding.

Italy i think should go hell bent for leather to win both games. They are playing in Italy and need to re establish their dominance at home especially in light of the upcoming WC qualification games. they are coming off the high of beating France, finally are establishing an identity and the right players to interpret the style and vs two teams , as you say a changing and in decline Belgium and a modest Israel. i look for 2 convincing wins. They finally have an Italy player as Capocannoniere in Retegui and a good supporting forward in Raspadori a solid backline and goalie and an emerging young star in Calafiori and the midfield is in fine shape regardless of the controversy regarding as you discuss in Locatelli.

if Italy dominates and does really well against Belgium like they did against France, their only struggle will be against Spain. and if they play them in the nations League playoffs and win, they'll go far in the next world cup. they can only improve at this point.

Great podcast!! On Inter, 100% agree that goals conceded (especially late) is a worry. That said, they’re only 2 points off the top, with a win and a draw (against Man City) in the CL. If that’s how they’re doing when off their best, then they could have cause for optimism. Teams that win leagues stay competitive even when playing badly…

Guys love the pod, brilliant as usual 👏 My father was at the Artemio Franchi for this game and told me that he could see Pulisic was visibly upset after both penalties were taken by Theo and Tammy respectively. At the time he hadnt put 2 and 2 together, but once he heard Fonseca's post match where he lambasted the team for not giving Pulisic the ball for the PK's he said it all made sense. To me this is blatant insubordination by Theo and Tammy, especially when both pens where to be taken when Milan were losing the match.

I disagree with the blanket criticism of penalties in Serie A. While some decisions were clearly mistakes, not all of them were poor. For example, Theo's incident against Fiorentina was unfair-he won the ball cleanly, and the contact that followed was unavoidable. Reijnders’ situation wasn’t a penalty either; if anything, he should have been shown a yellow card for diving. Gabbia’s case is harder to judge, but if the Fiorentina player touched the ball first, it shouldn’t have been a penalty. Additionally, Gatti’s foul for Juventus was questionable, as he clearly committed an infraction with his elbow. However, there were also good decisions, like the penalty awarded to Piccoli and the correct call in the Torino vs Inter match. Therefore, generalizing the criticism of the penalties is unjustified.
@warrenlees96734 күн бұрын
I don't care who the replacements are but Theo, Tammy & Tomori need to sit out several games. Theo will likely get a 2 game suspension anyway. But he should also sit out the next UCL match if are going to draw a line in the sand.
