I really appreciate your video which you talk on 3 exact principles to achieve fungally dominant soils. However, just my opinion, your use of words make it less effective as a communicator of ideas, for example, excessive use of general jargon and filler words make it sound like you have not gone through them yourself, still trialing as such. Let say the 3rd principle is plant diversity, then it isn't jargon like crop rotation or planning ahead. I find Matt Powers to use words that are so clear to listen and concise. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks, how do you increase these nutrients naturally do you add things like fish meal/bones? Is there any way to do it cheaply ? The commercially available ones are expensive.

8:58 Compound microscope should never be sold to anybody: kids or adults. They are very bad, hard to adjust and horrible image quality. It make science look harder than it really is. Kids should get a stereomicroscope, or a small magnifier/microscope that clip on your phone's camera, or even just a simple magnifier to look at relatively large sample (insects, rock/sand, flowers and plants, food, etc). Older kids who have previous experience with theses tool can then get a proper compound microscope (like a SWIFT380 with adjustable condenser and mechanical stage) for around 150-350$. (got mine for 203$ Canadian (150$ US), shipping include, new/open box from SWIFT on Amazon in 2024.) BEWARE: Compound microscope without training is like a chainsaw without gas: it won't work properly! So, a little training on how to look at premade slides is important. How to use the condenser to view bacteria. What do you see on the slide: just a nice abstract painting or you truly understand the differents structures of the tissue on the slide? Ask Google and KZbin if you need more info on your sample. You can then learn how to make your own sample, etc. I wish there would be an amateur microscopy community (like astronomy). Thank you for your video on the topic. Alex from Montréal

5:50 I would be curious to know the pipetting action in the supernatant. Close to the surface or bottom on anywhere in the middle? My guess would be the middle too avoid floaty and bottom sand.

Knf or Korean natural farming has a great technique. Instead of taking anythibg kut of the forest, you bring a wood box with open slats, you will fill it with cooked rise, and bury it in the ground in the forest. When you come back weeks later all the beautiful kinds of fungi will have colonized the rice. And now you have a diverse and healthy fungi species to get directly into your garden.

Been puzzled somewhat as to why we collect woodland soil/detritus, which if i understand this right, is ecto dominant, to add to our growing veg which is ideally endo dominant... 🤔 🙏🏽 🌳🕊💚

You will want a fungi dominated compost...so in this process judging by the results you not only wasted time and money...but also destroyed the compost used in these tests (but the tests are good). This concoction will probably be very good...if you are looking to grow many weeds and not so good for vegetables...and actually very bad for shrubs and trees. I saw another one of your videos and looks like this process will actually work at high brewing temperatures. Again...bacteria is good but you will want to bacteria to fungi ratio to be *AT LEAST* a 1:1 (Or this is at least what I've heard...and for trees you will want a 1 bacteria to 500 fungi ration) !

Recharge from real growers works excellent on damn near every plant i put it on. Also another secret ingredient is golden tree from Humboldt nutrients. Omg works great for the start of flower. Gives that lil push that flowers need to get started. A bunch of good stinky stuff. Jus don't get it anywhere as it stains and smells like something died😁

Your soil, no matter how terrible it is probably contains 100s of 1000s of fungi and microbe species, no need to inoculate it or add more, its at capacity at all times, you want to boost numbers, FEED them, and thats by adding organic matter

Hi we operate a pecan nut orchard for commercial purposes in Australia and had my first attempt at developing liquid worm compost tea. After it was developed sent a sample away for lab testing. The results surprised me there was 420 million bacteria but no fungi in the sample. I added molasses, fish powder, seaweed powder and carbonated water to the concentrate and aerated it with an air pump. Was wondering how I can increase fungi in the concentrate should I buy micorrhizal fungi from a supplier or do I have other options to increase the volume of fungi in the concentrate

Video is good but Adding food for bacteria only keeps bacteria alive till the next feed and not self sustaining after initial inoculation. Better way is to link bacteria growth to plant root system so sugar released by plant roots makes it self sustaining. It works for me.

Nothing about PH? Why? Nothing from this video will work if PH is less than 7.Almost nothing. In Poland farmers say, if you can't afford fertiliser, buy lime. Maybe soils in UK are on alkali side of the PH scale and you don't have to worry about? Iceland, with its volcanos and sulphur, is not that far away so you supoosed to have acidic rains. Sometimes, at least.

I do not think fungal cultures can be induced unless the biome is ideally set up for that spices. The fungal organisms that are added will immediately need to compete with thousands of microorganisms already present in the soil. You can induce fungal cultures to sterile substrate like when people grow mushrooms. If you add mushroom spores to contaminated substrate (like garden soil) it is unlikely your added culture will outcompete the thousands of already thriving cultures. It just doesn’t work that way despite what the clever marketing people tell you. People see to think that adding microbes is like adding fertilizer. Healthy plants will support the organisms that support the plant. These relations are quite specific. My best suggestion is to create an environment for a healthy biome and the fungal cultures will grow. They are already there. They blow in the wind and are omnipresent except sterile environments. I really don’t think you can induce these cultures. Your plants are growing will because you are a good gardener. We really can not control what grows in the soil on a micro level from macro manipulation. I would save your money on the supplements and focus on basic horticultural basics and the mycorrhiza will take care of itself. The mycorrhiza is a response to ideal environment not something that can be induced unless the microbe is ideal in which case it’s already there. It the biome is not ideal for the specific spices being added your expensive additive will become food for the thousands of competing microbes. The argument of adding these is silly. Mycorrhizae is the end goal from quality growing. It is not a means to an end it is the end of good means. Save your money and focus on good horticultural technique and the fungal growth with happen on its own like magic=ideal growing environments.

You are brewing fungi that can tolerate warmer temps. What happens when you introduce those same fungi into an environment that is significantly cooler? You get dead fungi. Would love to see a test where you brew at the same temps as your growing media.
