So is it possible to harvest soil around these tree roots and kind of (amend) your soil with it?

Interested in your testing results. Appreciate your observations. Why are your sampling north, south, east, west?

Hi! Im writing from Quito, Ecuador. More exactly from the little mountain of Ilalo, its a place thats suffering from the rapid city growth. I want to collect and learn how to cultivate mycorrhizal fungi specially those that are the ones responsible for orchid seed germination. I want to try and reproduce those orchids that are native to this mountain without having to take them out of their habitat (might do, depends on other factors such as the development of the area).. Im self-learned in botany, if you are interested in being part of this project by teaching me I would be incredibly thankful bout that. I will definitely binge on your other videos. Cheers ! Just one question atm, how can I cultivate/isolate the mycorrhizal fungi of epyphytes or litophytes?

Please make a video about finding and growing endo myco

if i saw 2 people on their hands and knees scouring the soil out in the woods i would think they just smoked meth and are tweaking

How do you recognize mycorrhizal fungus with Rhizobium bacterie in the roots?

Very interesting i need more on this. How can I preserve this fungi and use in the farm.

will imo work??? in bringing the fungi back to the soil?
@Simonsoil2 жыл бұрын
It can absolutely help bring in strains of fungi, but you need to make sure that the soil conditions you introduce them to, are right - so they thrive.

There are to kinds of fungi...Ecto and Endo. Gardens and forage need Endo...Correct? Trees have Ecto...Correct? If this is true, where do you get Endo?
@Simonsoil2 жыл бұрын
Hi Tim. There are lots of types of fungi and you are correct that the two main types of mycorrhizal fungi that people are concerned with are endomycorrhizae and ectomycorrhiza. Different plants and crops might form more productive associations to one particular type over the other. So you will need to look in to the specific association that the plant or crops your concerned with have with endo or ecto. It is not necessarily true that trees have ecto. Some do and some have endo. This is very much species dependant. If you are seeking endomycorrhiza then one good place to start would be around a endo tree in a woody area. From this, you could inoculate your soil and hope that the appropriate strain or strains of endomycorrhizae are present.

I do have a microscope. Is there a way I could check to see if I have the right strains?
@Simonsoil2 жыл бұрын
Without getting into the complexity of it. It is possible to morphologically identify certain strains with a microscope. I think that you might be better off checking the crops and plant roots that you would like to become bonded though. Sample root fragments and certainly the ecto mycorrhizal species could be identified as present (or absent) using a good quality light microscope. There's a lot of good images online that can help with this.

It would have been interesting to see under a cover slip to see if there were any hyphae or spores

Why are we looking for ecto mycos, those are inexpensive and not as useful as Endo. Love the Chanel

how long does mycorrhiza take to form on the roots?
