Hey there Andy. Great videos, awesome to see you are now water tight and wind proofed. As others have done, I'm a little concerned not to see your happy tanned face, and those beautiful dogs of yours on my screen. Could you, if possible write to say you are okay. Again, hope you are okay.

been out of town for a bit, catching up on the latest video, I really enjoy them, being a builder I can also see the "diamond in the rough", you're doing very nice work, and the doors and windows are really nice bits of hardware, money well spent!

Interesting to see that it’s not just the UK where the trades people are poorly trained and take little care or pride in their work ☹️
@dreidu10 күн бұрын
I haven't finished the video but what exactly do you mean?
@Brigadoon05910 күн бұрын
@@dreidu Somebody's seems to have their measurements wrong, and given Andrew checked the measurements it seems more likely to be the fabricator. Aluminium expands with heat especially in direct sunlight, particularly dark colours, possibly as much as 1mm / metre, those frames seem too tight in the opening. If the aluminium expands (as it will) it has to go somewhere, most likely warping into the glazing rebate and if there is glass to metal contact a real risk of glass breakage. It was also clear that the factory finished patio door frame was disassembled on site and adjusted to make it fit. The door leafs that fit within that frame were not, nor could they be as the glass defines the door leaf size. Adjusting frames on site can lead to all sorts of jointing issues and weather sealing problems. Just hope Andrew has a good warranty.
@stephenreynolds13489 күн бұрын
@ kicking door frames into place, mastic pointing with fingers, site cutting door lock housing which should be done in the factory, no ppe, etc.
@dreidu9 күн бұрын
@@stephenreynolds1348 the door locking he explained that basically they didn't know if he wanted the door to lock and open mainly to which side. The other aspects I guess are more important to some people than others. If this was all the problems you face in construction you should count yourself very happy
@stephenreynolds13489 күн бұрын
@ precisely my point - train people properly, invest in their future, they will have pride in doing their work properly and then perhaps waste and poor workmanship would be reduced

Hey Andy. What a transformation. You must be so satisfied. Now you really get an understanding of what the exterior will look like. Amazing work and progress you have made here. Those of us that have tackled this scale of a project know the feeling you must now have. After that massive roof project and the exterior in less than a year. Plus all the other stuff. Congratulations. A year from now you will amaze all of us. Can't wait. Then .... Get that glamping project started. I miss Portugal

Why in the world are there no windows on that backside of the house? Your kitchen needs a window out to the view of those beautiful cork oaks!!!
@rusticcrow9 күн бұрын
You mean the side. I don't own that land. you can't put windows in unless you have a clear 4m on your property. Not sure why I need to stare out a window when Im outside 90% of the time amongst the cork trees and there's now a full glass door and a 3m patio door. Most of the cooking will be around the outside kitchen. I have 13 acres of land surrounded by cork trees. A window there is not a ´why in the World` moment!!
@snakey31910 күн бұрын
Will you harvest the olives next season? Beautiful groves, can you sell the cork?
@rusticcrow9 күн бұрын
Doubt I'll have time, maybe next year. Cork I did 2yrs ago. I don't think Ill do it again, it reduces the life span and they've been done too many times.

Wow!! It looks so different now that the windows and doors are in - like a bonafide house now! 🤩 Must feel great to have a properly locked up space. Also a nice change with knocking through that wall to open up the space inside, have more light throughout and easier to imagine the space moving forward. Have a nice break, you deserve it!
