Classy job that Justin 👌, when i worked in Germany and we had a big pour coming the Krauts would just change and go completely panic mode it was crazy to see.The biggest problem with moisture content in concrete slabs is if you are laying Porc on it with adhesives, once its grouted the moisture cant escape and pops the tiles.

Hi Justin, I spoke with my concrete supplier and he said that it cures at the rate of 1mm per day. So a 100mm slab takes 100 days before anything is laid on it. He went into it a bit but who does that, its over 3 months. I think you have done well with the time that you left it. The guy also told me that concrete continues to harden for about a hundred years. Don't know if thats right but thats what I was told. Thats going to be a lovely job when finished. I wish I had laid my concrete myself. I had a really bad job off the guys who supplied and laid it. It takes some nads to cut the tiles freehand like that fair play. regards Gareth

Hi Justin Lovely job mate 🙏❤️ great work , as u know civil engineering is my trade pal and never unless ground water table is excessive use a dpm externally mate ! And only then you have to create drain offs and specialised water sumps👍You will create a swimming pool effect as well as trap all the moisture forcing it upwards , concrete drys at 1mm in 24 hrs at 18oc mate and we don’t get that in the uk , they say the inside of the hoover dam is still not dry and not fully set yet ? Concrete is a wonderful product but has many variables expansion being 1 of many 😂❤ although you can add accelerants it only cures the surface tension and is not used in many structural requirements for its weakening of the product 🙏👍 right now I’ve got over that lol ❤️❤️👍 but glad to see you using a pad for porcelain , not many do as the curing of this means a lay off time of about 3 months ! Hence why a lot shy away from it ! I don’t have a lot of faith In merchants technical helplines ( I’ve had a run in with a few ) basically they are salesmen no university degree in what they are on about reading from a product info chart , I ask them to send me an email stating what they have said to put in the clients folder in case of failure so we can seek recovery of costs ? And guess what not got one yet ! Right rant over lol stunning work mate , and get the lads on the concrete mate ❤❤️👍 tip mate if building a house etc you can come up to damp as long as you put a cavity tray and vents in just above damp pal most local authority’s allow this and building control will sign it off as long as you have pics and notify the in advance so they can visit it if they want ! Keep safe mate and keep out the storms pal , wishing you and the lads well as we enter the silly weather season ❤️❤️👍🙏

If im wanting to put a drainage channel up to threshold for no step from inside to out, how do i stop the damp on inside??
@brickrightbuildinglandscaping
@brickrightbuildinglandscaping 3 ай бұрын
Thats a contentious subject dermot .Ideally on a new build you'd lap over the dpm to the external skin to form a tray .As your existing older property's you should be 150mm below dpc to outside ground level. Although a lot of people no longer want this .Ive worked with architects and building control and in my experience they just ask for a 150mm deep eco drain to run at damp level the length of your paving with a viable outlet .Thats has been allowed with us . I would suggest you contact local building control for advice in your area .Could add the drains in 150 mm below and the come off and raise your patio level mate .its a difficult one that hope thats helpful 👍

I remember it was 150 mot and 150mm concrete with 20mm porcelain and 30mm mortar bed so 350mm total .you can lay the concrete at 100mm think but im sure we did 150mm thick to over engineer it .
