None of these Casios are the "Mission Impossible" watches used in the film. The Casio watches used in the Mission Impossible movies starring Tom Cruise are the Casio G shock models DW6900 series.

@@fbhayden more knowledgeable KZbinrs and Casio enthusiasts than me showed frames of the first mission impossible where it really appears that this very model was used. It should have been another model (a gshock, as you mentioned) but it appears that Tom cruise wore one of his personal timepieces when shooting the scene, and thus began the legend of the dw-290. Humbly I can say that to my eyes it appears that from those freeze-frames the watch is indeed this one… Thanks for this comment!

I recently got it on sale, only cause i fell in love with the LW-204-1B and i wanted to have the original too. It was actually CHEAPER than the F-91 standard version. The 3294 module is so much better that it isn't even funny. The timer for one, is a big thing for me, the alarm implementation, the perpetual calendar, the current time in secondary modes, the lighting, even the design, and i could go on. Always liked the F91, but felt it was REALLY lacking something. The LW-204/W-202 satisfied those frustrations, while still being a slim and simple watch.

Hello, the short answer is: yes, the alarm will go off every day of the year. This model has just one alarm, unless you modify it. The mod is simple, but I haven't done it yet, and it allows to have five alarms. In the original version of the w800-h, the alarm is either ON (so it goes off every day) or off.

I've never viewed Swatches as cheap watches. They most certainly are not in South Africa. They are more expensive than Casio's and some view them as fancier. The only thing I dont like about them is that unique strap to case thingy they do. The "Black Bliss" seems like a pretty cool watch! The strap could also be chrome tanned instead of veg tanned and that could give it a different feel and look. All in all a very cool Swatchy! Take care man!

I bought a Casio AE-70 at a flea market some time ago and after cleaning it and installing a new battery (1.5v) it was unreadable. I changed the polarized filter, inserted shims under the clips that block the LCD to the module, for a while it seemed better then again terrible. Now resigned, I made a last attempt which then proved successful; disassembled the module and wet the rubber strips of the LCD and the contacts on the motherboard with WD-40. Now the readability is impressive! It was a problem due to poor conductivity. Excellent method well explained in your video, thanks for the information.

The DW-290 does not have the resistance characteristics of a G-Shock (even if it has identical functions to the DW-5600 module), but they did not even manage to make writings on the case with an acceptable duration. Even in mine they disappeared after a few baths in sea water, I would say ridiculous. My trusted shop where I bought it gave me a new one as an apology (and it is not even their fault ...), never worn and I will never wear it. Despite everything, it is truly iconic. My son owns the B-640, the module is light years ahead of the more famous A-158 / 168 F91-W etc etc. Nice video, interesting.

Those blue/green indications on the dw-290 give it a really characteristic look, and I’m really worried they will fade away… and that’s why, out of my three dw-290 I never wear the newer one. I think “the mad watch collector“ just got a “fresh” DW 290 for Christmas, meaning one with all the lettering still intact… Also, the matte finish on the case and strap will become darker and more polished after prolonged use. Both the fresh and the used look are cool, but maybe I prefer the fresh one. Grazie per questo commento!!!
