In all honesty I’ve been an operator for over 20 years. It’s situations like this that you have to have money out back. I’ve many Towing’s companies fail because spent above their means.
@mrterps2012Ай бұрын
My company has a 90 minute eta but that’s only cause in case all our other drivers are on a call so we have time to finish that one before getting to the next call but most of the time it doesn’t take that long I usually get done pretty quick and move on to the next one with in minutes

Never new I could find such a video on KZbin. I came up with the idea of starting a Tow Truck company today. Thank you very much. I’ll keep everything in mind.But I will first work for a reputable tow truck company. That’s probably the best way of learning the business.

Tried contracting with Allstate the 1st 2-3 years of my business being open… they claimed they had plenty of providers in my area… that whole time been receiving Out of network services from them through Towbook at inflated rates. They are paying me $90-105 for services they could get for $30 😂😂 not applying anymore.

How hard would it be realistically to be an owner operator that targets the repossession end of all this I’m wondering if there is opportunity for owner operators to travel long distances for recovery

That a far and few between. Repos are the hardest part to break into because so many already do it.

This comment came in response to an email I sent out. "We have 4 heavy wreckers, and NEVER re-install a driveshaft. A lot of driveshaft bolts are " torque to yield"- meaning one time use. Almost no one replaces then once removed. Proper installation requires a torque wrench (that we don't carry). A torque wrench will lose calibration while stored in a moving vehicle. Our towing firm will wear a forever warranty on the diff, u-joint and driveshaft if we choose to re-install. We are NOT licenced mechanics. I'm sure the driver in your scenario would far sooner perform a rear tow as opposed the removing the driveline and running an air supply line to the tractor. Something does not add up with the complaint."

I agree we have to do not put them back in. We are not mechanics. That’s up to repair shop.
@kenison74154 ай бұрын
Yes we haul heavy, and most seasoned industry people get that we need to pull, and don't reinstall the driveshaft. There is the odd time where it becomes a big explanation to the "new" people. But, generally... tow truck operators are not mechanics and therefore won't take the responsibility of putting it back in. But... if they don't take it out, they can cook your transmission.

you have a motor club for a reason. towing companies by and large are bad. The club can in most cases vet the provider.

Left the negative review for the company that said they couldnt help or just decided to not answer. Seems justfied, 75% of local tow companies are stuck up and unreliable. AAA is the only tow company thats somewhat reliable.

You’re dealing with the wrong people
@donarcher55554 ай бұрын
How would you like it if someone you never did business with decided to leave a negative review for your business? Maybe they didn't answer because they were swamped and couldn't take on any more work. They're not a public utility. You're not entitled to their labor. And AAA is not a towing company. They have to get local towing companies to provide their members with services. Lastly, your assertion that 75% of local towing companies are stuck up and unreliable rings of projection.
@kenison74154 ай бұрын
Aaa hires companies to run for them.... as cheaply as possible. In a big city you have a better chance of getting an aaa tow truck, rural areas you need to call the local companies if you want timely service.

How do I tow exclusively for the Police Department?
@TheTowAcademy5 ай бұрын
You must learn what is required to tow for law enforcement in your area and then meet the requirements. If it's required that you have three flatbed tow trucks, 24 hour availability, a secure storage facility at a location that's easily accessible, and all the necessary insurance, then get all that and apply.
@johnhines623Ай бұрын
You have to have all the right insurance and you have to win the bids for city. Highway patrol is about padding the right pockets.

Allstate is one of the worst have to fight over every ticket we don't pay for snatch blocks don't care if you spend half the night fixing their customers screw up in a ditch or in a creek bank and use 3 snatch blocks and 500 feet of cable at least with Geico if you get to their adjuster and show him the ticket and pictures he will document it to them if they try to cut it he will make up the difference Allstate cross country and asurion will cut you up and throw you to the debt sharks Geico pays enroute hook up and tow andask for dead head in your contract they will give it to you

Nice video. 2:32 at this point I would’ve put a snatch block to do a low pull and avoid the vehicle coming down and landing onto the cable and boom.

I respectfully disagree. A big problem with PPC ads is click fraud from competitors. You can not block IP addresses and bots on call only campaigns using third-party software. Wasting alot of budget due to click fraud on call only campaigns.
@TheTowAcademy7 ай бұрын
Thanks for the comment. Click fraud is a concern with any kind of ad campaign. For SEM in Google Ads, it’s most common in the Search Partners Network, which is why we opt our campaigns out of that. We've seen how fraudulent click volume from Search Partners can cost an organization millions of dollars. That's why we avoid Search Partners altogether. As for call only ads, our cost per call went down significantly when we began using them. If you run a standard ad with the call extension, the call extension doesn’t always show. Given the urgent need of motorists who need a tow truck NOW, making it as quick and easy as possible for them to get somebody on the phone is crucial to the success of the campaign. We also use call rail to track and record all calls, so if there was a problem with fake calls and bots, we would know about it immediately. As for competitors, Google will only show them an ad so many times, and if they click an ad but do not convert, Google shows them that add less often (if at all). There’s no way to block a competitor from doing that without actually having their IP address, but I’d like to think that for the most part, they have better things to do than waste their time on something as meaningless as clicking a competitors ads.

Well listen, I've got one screwing me right now, because I'm a Wheel lift truck. In my opinion. I'ma give it to ya straight. It's all bullsht. They want Haulers now too. Soon it will be Crane trucks like in U.K. So right now, You asked WHY We use them? = Because the PEOPLE are using them. It's simple. They're mindsets are sign me up!!! Discount towing.. Hell yeah. So what would you do, sit around and go broke? I opened my doors in 2017.. There was 1 company doing ROADSIDE here that I could see LEGALLY as a COMPANY not some fly by night, I have a jack jumper cables and and a slim jim. CHEAP! No insurance mess your stuff up sure, there everywhere.. Well, I was changing tires CHEAP. 8 clubs were calling me. Then one by one they stopped calling me. Luckily, I was saving what I could making steps to be bigger. President Trump seen us struggling and gave us a lot of money. That money with what I had saved bought me tow truck. With my experience in this kinda of work I should be sailing.. But sadly I am not. Because everyone eithe rhas it wrapped up or there's a club behind it. And so many others want it CHEAP!!!!!!!!! And can't get it. I had one call me and went with it. 10 months later I want to strangle them. Not calling me or only calling me for what I can't do. Leaving me sit at times for a week long. I am mad as hell. I gave a lady my card. She said oh nice. CAlls me a week later, I quoted her a price. She said okay let me call you back. The club that had been letting me sit calls and offers me her car to tow. for 20 bucks cheaper. YEAH TO HELL WITH ANY PROFIT TO MAKE RIGHT!!! = I told them to call someone else. And I pissed them off. GOOD DAMN DEAL TOO.. And google ole good with TDS = TRUMP DERRANGED SYNDROME = Removed my company for google using some BS excuse and refuse to to let me get it back on. Over youtube removing my comments. And I told them I'd sue them. SO between them all.. I AM READY FOR THAT WAR... IT'S TIME TO SERVE UP SOME JUSTICE. YEEEE HAAAAAW !!!! F THEM ALL

I think non competes are valid for during and after employment for up to 2 years ONLY for high profile business partnerships. It takes years to gain and keep the trust of these partnerships which is the core to keep the business running. Bringing someone in and mentoring them to learn the quality of business and service we give company A for them to replicate and cut us out through lower pricing as a start up? No thanks man. Why would I not protect my livelihood. As far as enforcing a non compete, I think it’s worth it but again, a non compete for ONLY established high profile clients. Losing a revenue generating property that performs a hundred thousand due to a non compete violation is definitely worth 10k-15k in lawyer fees. Take the skills, take the knowledge, start your business, even be a competitor in the area, get your clients, but leave my stability (my existing high profile clients) alone for at least during and after 2 years.

Horrifically long hours and zero appreciate with no benefits and terrible pay. Fuck that “profession”. Employee retention is far better than non compete agreements at the end of the day. In my opinion great employees are rare compared to mediocre and even bad ones. Make sure you retain the guys that the other companies could want.

Unless this particular company is paying ABOVE AND BEYOND what the majority of operators make I’d laugh in their face. I never expected to be trained. I paid for my Wreckmaster classes and never expected a company owner to do it for me because I wanted to learn. I worked for a company that was acquired by Location Services and with all their failed “run the company through attorneys and accountants(I am an accountant by education)” business model never were we asked to sign a non compete. EDIT-We did sign the typical NDA for the business model, etc.
@seanmiller343810 ай бұрын
So can you get them to sign a noncompete to not go work for another company after you put a lot of time in training them or make it where they have to stay a certain amount of time before they can leave?
@Commissar061710 ай бұрын
nope. you can have them sign a non-solicitation agreement, but 99% chance that a non compete will be unenforceable.
@drp1bb85610 ай бұрын
An NDA is one thing. A non-compete is ridiculous both legally and in reality. If you bought another tow company a non compete is proper, but for a driver it’s unrealistic.
