I think you make a very good point about lightcones-I think that really highlights in comparison how Genshin characters hold a lot of value within the characters themselves instead of the weapons: notable examples being Bennett, Xiangling, Xingqui. All 4-stars that actually don't need constellations or 5-star weapon variants to be immensely valuable to a variety of team comps AND have easy access to 4-star weapons that are still very useful. I can't say the same for any of the HSR 4-star characters. I suppose Tingyun and Pela are decently useful, but everyone else is a complete joke except for Gallagher (but I don't even really count him because he came out much later in the game). Lightcones are definitely way too strong to pass up for a lot of the premium characters. I'm holding out for some kind of new DOT enabler that will bring Kafka and Black Swan into relevance. I invested extremely heavily in both of them and felt sad that they fell so far behind-fingers crossed for 3.0 releasing some kind of new DOT mechanic. The Herta is going to bring up Jade to relevance and I'm all about it tbh. Your point about time spent and new players is simply a sad reality of Gacha games as a whole though, IMHO. Any time I jump into a new gacha game that is at least a few years old I understand I probably won't have much a chance of clearing end game content without a lot of time investment. Sometimes that's the fun for me to save my rolls and navigate to characters I like/think are strong and figure it out.

I am a person who does not spend a lot of time playing games, and at one time I played genshin in the evenings and everything was cool I calmly passed events, plot, etc. I recently discovered honkai and what can I say, I couldn't even get through to the end of the story, because the difficulty increases very much at one point, and although I liked the plot of honkai, but the inability to pass it without losing a lot of time was the main drawback. The game is interesting, but the balance is very repulsive from the game. And it's amazing that this issue is not raised anywhere, I was already sitting at one point, I thought that maybe I was doing something wrong, but no.

I was more disinterested of Yae due to her smug personality and her schemes that's always making the other character the butt of the joke. The closest she ever gets to being humbled is when some spirit possessed some wannabe author that made more sales than Yae's light novels shop. Side tangent: First of all, why 'light novels'? I get that it's a big industry in Japan but shouldn't the book media that always comes to mind when it comes to Japan would be manga? There's also the fact that plots of those light novels are basically referencing isekai (a relatively modern trend irl). Why not reference works from the influential manga authors like Osamu Tezuka or Go Nagai? There's even more missed opportunities like making homages to Tokusatsu where you can have Itto dress up like the bugmen of Kamen Rider.

Objectively true I like HSR more than Genshin but the power creep in that game has more to do with exploration than combat Zzz has Miyabi but she’s the only one of a huge cast, and there are some lore justifications for it and the game is fairly balanced with who you can use (who you like) Wuwa has Jinhsi, same deal as miyabi but she also requires setup I think that game handles powercreep the best as the forte system makes you earn the big damage for the nukers like Jinhsi and Camellya, while DPS characters like encore and xiangli yao are still totally viable The new healer didn’t totally powercreep verina either because her she’s far less user friendly and requires chaining into/outro skills On the other hand, so many early HSR 5 stars are not really useful anymore with better alternatives I used to use gepard, but aventurine is better in every way

First, your title is misleading. The worst powercreep isn't here, it's in the predecessor, HI3rd. Second: you've made complaints, now what's the solution? Hope to hell Hoyo figures this out and course-corrects. Passive action does nothing, either start feedback spamming with as many people as humanly possible or simply drop the game eternally.

i have c6 itto r2 he fell off but with the help of xilonen c4r1....my itto feels like a c6 again :) the investment Dx i know my gems is better spent elsewhere but god i love big sword characters. also just then today i felt actual power creep in PGR again this patch and it takes me longer to clear :l with accelerated patches, it is twice as fast but at least it takes us 1-2 years to replace someone though

Powercreep exists, and it's very obvious. It exists more in turn based gacha, and are more obvious there.

honestly if hsr has no powercreep it'd be boring. would love to not see my beloved acheron fall off but my last cope would be they eventually reach a powercreep cap while acheron team is still relevant and just start introducing new mechanics instead like genshin

10:15 so true bro, many people on reddit said dot team is goated that time that's why I started to build up my Kafka, Guinaifen, the time I finish building them other team comps came out and my dot can just barely finish matches. And powercreep is so common in turn based games and people still say hsr doesn't have it, not like genshin where powercreep is non existent cuz we can still finish abyss with 4 stars

although it is already stated i just cant get enough how prevelant xingqiu is in genshins history -him with diluc -him with a freeze team -national w/chongyun -rational w/raiden -taser team w/ sucrose, fischl, beidou -double hydro team core w/yelan -HYPERBLOOM -nilou bloom i honestly think he is the sole reason why there are only 3 four star hydro characters because creating another hydro must have something against him to shine. candace failed in that regard. so the only solution was to make every new hydro releases a 5 star.

The nice thing about genshin's power creep is that it doesn't affect the content. Like if you look at Star Rail, they release characters much stronger than previous characters and balance the game around the strong new characters, making old ones worthless. Meanwhile in genshin, Diluc could 36 star the abyss with Xianyun. Hu Tao still hurts like crazy

Im a husbando over meta player. That said, my favourite character is childe and i have been playing international for 4 years. And honestly. I am getting tired of benette and xiangling. I skip alot of other main dps units i liked that needs benette / xiangling because childe's got no viable team comps without them. I am still waiting on the day where benette and xl gets a side grade so i can play my husbando in different ways. :( but on the bright note. At least i can still play my two favourite hydro men on both sides of the abyss with the release of neuvilette. Like bless his heart that he isnt tied to benette and xiangling. (Same with alhaitham) Though sometimes i do wonder to myself. Am i really maining childe? Or am i just a reluctant xiangling benette main in denial.

I just do up to floor 11 and if I do 12, I don’t push for three stars I just complete as fast as I can because the gym reward isn’t worth the headache. 50 gems is trash. And do you know what’s even crazier? They make these enemies so much harder and annoying to kill, but the rewards are actually less than they used to be.

Another thing to mention is that if you lose a lot of 50/50’s over time your account becomes totally bricked.

In star rail you have to make the distinction between its sustain Healers and shielders, Shielders being just 1000000x better Most of your complaints are about shielders , this does not apply to healers since healers can still be one-shotted by the ever increasing numbers. So no irs not a sustain powercreep, its a shieling power creep.

Finally somebody said it! I feel so bad for my Blade that collects dust because he can’t keep up with the new bosses, Seele too, I’ve also noticed that within the community people would try to shove you units like “oh get x they’re very meta” it has happened to me (I’m writing this whilst Sunday released) but the character itself may not click with me yk, like yeah Sunday seems like a neat character, I just don’t really like him that much. The claim “oh he’ll be meta for future patches” again doesn’t helps me either because I don’t pull for meta, I pull to have fun. Another issue I’ve been having with star rail is how quickly they pump out some reruns, like after they finished with Penacony I was so flabbergasted by how quick they’d rerun the characters that just had their banners a patch or two ago. Like chill out I just wanted to build my dot team (and I did in the end). Currently I’m saving up for firefly since I have the characters that she needs for a break team. My other issue with Sunday was the fact that in the team guides I’d find for him I wouldn’t be able to compose any since they require 5* units that I don’t have, and I don’t want Sunday to collect dust whilst I wait on those characters (if it makes sense)

Genshin has SLOWER powercrept and its easier to plan your rolls. Like raiden is the best unit to have since 2.1 and still slay abyss 12-3 in 5.2 as long as theres no electro immunity. You are also not forced to roll for 5* supports, i have been running raiden with bennett xiangling since 2.1 and she did so well for my abyss. My support for her has always been kazuha 5* or sucrose 4*, and even we now have Xilonen who ppl said the better kazuha, I dont feel forced to replace him for her. Meanwhile hsr's meta is "forcing" people to roll for charas whose gameplay matches the "mechanics" of that version range. Like 2.x is so super break meta, jing yuan and seele is basically useless, you HAVE to roll for Firefly. But once the meta doesnt require SB anymore, firefly is useless and u have to roll whatever the heck 3.x is going to be. With remembrance path seemed to be the core mechanics in 3.x, i have a feeling that you'll be forced to roll for remembrance bc from what i observed, they MIGHT be even crazier support than Harmony. This is why they made trailblazer so good, because you are given an "option" through trailblazer. And which is why traveler's kit except for dendro is ass.

Star Rail is killing itself. The power creep is so bad that characters are already so outdated by their first rerun, it's not even a good idea to consider eidolons because new characters are so much stronger when they drop and everything caters to them. CCs forget that most players don't spend hours grinding relic RNG and building the whole roster, some of these modes are actually impossible for players that are missing key characters. And don't get me started on other stupid Hoyo things souring the mood around the game, they just screwed over husbando players after hypong them with a bunch of male characters only for them to continue the trend of males constantly being imaginary or physical and destruction so the new shiny path is gender locked, multiple elements are gender locked. It's such a frustrating game to want to play at this point on so many levels.
