Awesome and inspired! One suggestion, it needs a 2nd exit so kitty won't feel cornered.

Genius on the roof, no hinges needed, just lift it straight off for maintenance. However, I would make just one change....have the bottom of the doorway 4 inches off the floor so a think layer of straw can be added and it won't spill out the entrance.

I’ve milled thousands of board feet of spruce and pine in BC, now I just mill live edge hardwoods for my wood shop. You should start the first cut by using a track. I made mine out of a 2 by 8 and put side rails on the track also of wood to help keep it from warping and it helps fit the curvature of the log better,

Me and my son just built something very similar out of scrap wood from around my stepdads garage. It's not as heavy duty but it should last a season or two. Either way it was a super fun project to do with my son.

I take it tung oil is going to hive it enough protection to actually use it as a cup and prevent liquids seeping in to the wood?

Dry Brush on some nice gold micro pigment then clear coat spray this masterpiece with satin or gloss to let it pop. Alternatively, you can add thinned UV epoxy Resin and harden with UV light to add depth. Should look fantastic. 😎

Hi ! I have a question about the little wood planks at the outside of the shelter: it seems it is pine wood but for indoor purpose. Was the paint enough to protect the wood from the element? I’m intended the same built but I’m torn about that wood finish as I can only find planks that are about 20mm thick (it would be too heavy). Thank you !
