New Quebec law just banned this beautiful bike unfortunately… i hope they will clarify/amend the broad rules

@@MrGatz Yeah, it really ruined my day when I saw this. I'm crossing my fingers that the rules will be amended because what they've created is not an effective nor rational law, and it penalizes a lot of people who just want to ride safely and enjoy their bikes.

Nice vid! I argue with my neighbor -- he has a Deluge and I am strictly DAW-based. Seeing this I just see how much more fiddling is necessary on a hardware unit to do relatively basic tasks that are much more straightforward in a DAW. I use Renoise which has crazy fast keyboard shortcuts to do much of what you did here. But hey, different strokes. The end result sounds great!
@simon_jakobssonАй бұрын
I use both. A DAW is obviously way more fully featured and convenient, but there's something special about making music without computers and screens too. Especially when it's just for fun! Thanks for the comment, I hope you're able to make friends with your neighbor ;)

Sounds like fun, but please be careful as this is NOT a legal bicycle in all parts of Canada. There are three classes of e-bikes here in B.C.: class 1 (pedal assisted bicycle, speed-limited to 32km/h, no throttle) class 2 (pedal-assisted or throttle, speed-limited to 32km/h), and class 3 (pedal-assisted or throttle, and can reach speeds up to 45 km/h). Only class 1 is considered a bicycle for use on bike lanes and certain trails. Classes 2 and 3 are legal to dive where motor vehicles travel, but need to be licensed, but are forbidden on bike paths. I have not seen this being enforced in any way, until an accident occurs. Recently, a class 3 e-bike struck and seriously injured a pedestrian on a shared bike path. As the class 3 e-bike was not licensed (and therefore carried no insurance), and was riding on a path forbidden to such vehicles, this turned into an ugly legal mess for the e-bike rider. Therefore, bicycle shops are now reluctant to work on these bikes and I have to have my off-road class 3 e-bike serviced by a motorcycle mechanic. Obtaining parts for my bike is also expensive as they need to be imported from the U.S. or China. I love cycling and I now have a class 1 e-bike with which I commute 64 km every day to and from work. It is great fun, and I love it as I still get a decent workout.

Great video, man! I’m in Montreal\Mile- End and I’m looking for an e-bike to commute to work downtown/Quartier des spectacles. I was considering getting a Super73 R Brooklyn, but the Beachman has a lot more features, look better and is 1000$ cheaper, soooo I might pull the trigger on this one. Question: you seem to say it’s unsafe to ride in the winter and I was surprised by that, especially since we now have bixi all year in Montreal. What do you mean? It’s the tires or you feel the bike would not feel safe in general? I would mention also that I have access to an indoor parking for bikes at work… that’s certainly an important factor for me. Anyways, thanks again for making this video. It’s pretty much the only real review on KZbin (which worries me a little).
@simon_jakobsson3 ай бұрын
Hey! Yeah I was looking at the Super73 as well, but the Beachman was a better option for me. Nothing inherently unsafe about riding it in the winter (and the company sells more rugged offroad wheels too), I just don't like riding it when it's too cold outside. It would have been the same for all bikes for me, I don't ride bixi bikes in the winter either! I made this video because I think it's a cool bike, and because I wanted to make a video as a little project. It's not sponsored or anything, and I think that it maybe speaks to other, bigger manufacturers essentially buying influencers to do their advertising for them. I'm also guessing that there are many fewer Beachman bikes out in the streets compared to bigger manufacturers. I'm just speculating though, I don't know for sure. Happy riding!

great looking bike but it stops there......500 watts is way too small for the price...5k is way too much for any ebike unless its custom built....I have 3....2 scooters (kinda vespa looking) and 1 that i built.....cost me the same as that and looks just as good. and mine has a bigger notor and batt. I love the whole concept of using one.....but they are just not there yet in terms of range vs price tag....you can get a brand new motor cycle for 1k more.....so to me a bike like this needs to be spec'd out like a moped or something thats 50cc and should be no more then 4k to be a viable option for the masses.

Actually, note-probability is not per se generative, it does not generate anything. Generative is something that generates new things, like new sequence.

Fair enough, but we're getting into semantics - a sequence that is impossible to predict and ever-changing, using sounds that are randomly generated and modulated is close enough where I feel like it warrants the use of the word Generative. Thanks for watching and for keeping us honest! :)

Thanks! That's a tough nut to crack, but what I tend to do is experiment with the bass; you can keep most other things the same, and try to change the bass progression, and if that starts to sound good, you link it back to the original bassline and boom: now you have a second section to build on. Blues progressions could be worth exploring too. Have fun!
