is there anyway you can release this song or even make a longer version and post it on youtube? That way I can put it on repeat. I literally can not get enough of the way this sounds. So good man!

Well that sure is a confidence boost! :) Thank you so much, I'm glad you like it. I might upload it separately at some point, so it's just the song. Again, thanks for making my day!

Oddly relatable story! I’m from Australia and have played guitar (poorly) on and off since childhood. I did a year of exchange in a little country called Sweden (you might have heard of it). I decided that I wanted to learn to finger pick, so basically locked myself in my Stockholm apartment at the beginning of winter in 2012 and emerged, having learnt ‘I won’t be found’ by the Tallest Man on Earth. You’re very right about fingerpicking too. It’s transformational to one’s playing.

Just a quick reminder for all the real beginners out there: When he says "quicker", he really only means a couple of weeks, or in the best case scenario a couple of months, quicker. To really know the things you have just seen in the video and get it into your muscle memory, it takes up to several years. And then you will quickly realize that there is so much more to really learning how to play the guitar than just placing fingers where someone tells you to place them. You will quickly (and that's the only thing that is really quick around learning how to play) find out, that without basic music theory you will not make any progress, and you will not be able to figure stuff out by yourself, and if you find things out for yourself, you can't explain them logically and therefore not transpose them into other areas of the fretboard, and so on... When someone puts "learning how to play the guitar" and "quick" in the same sentence, s/he wants to sell you something, or it's clickbait to ramp up the views.

In my case, this learning journey took me many years, because it was pretty aimless and I reached several learning plateaus that I didn't know how to move on from. I'm hoping it won't take as long for others, because it could have been prevented in my case if I just knew what some steps were. You're absolutely right that it takes practice and building muscle memory, and understanding basic theory. However, all of that feels largely pointless without feeling the inspiration and the motivation to keep going, and feeling a sense of progress. That's what I'm hoping to share here. You're partially right - I'm not selling anything, but I wanted more people to see what I sincerely hoped to be helpful advice, and I looked at a website for how to create youtube titles that people would click on. If it feels salesy or clickbait:y I apologize, I was hoping it would be effective without being misleading. Thanks for your thoughtful comment, and have a nice day :)

My boy who’s a real shredder in a couple hardcore bands told me: If you don’t have a ton of time to practice every day, just play a variation of a barre F chord, slide it up two or three frets in rhythm and play another variation, then slide it back down and play the first variation, repeat that every day for six months and you’ll have built every muscle (and every blister) that any professional would have ✌️

Sounds like excellent advice! Thanks for sharing :)
