The Synthstrom Audible Deluge makes it very easy to sample other gear and convert the sounds into new synthesizer presets.
Please let me know if you have questions, comments or ideas for future videos, and thank you for watching.

A Deluge update with an integrated auto sampler to take advantage of its handling of multi samples would be huge

Hi, I have a handy tip for you: When you recorded a sound, press SHIFT+MODE (bottom left). You can change it from cut to stretch, once and loop. When you select 'loop', go into waveform view, hold the green bar in and press next (right) to it to set start point of the loop. Do the same with the red bar, but left to it. Place the loop beginning and end on the same position of a wave to remove the click. Now your sound plays as long as you hold the button :) Setting it to 'Once' is handy for recording sounds for a drum kit so it plays the entire sound when the key is pressed, no matter the duration. Also, to save it as a synth, press SAVE+SYNTH. I save them all as 'Z Crave string 01', 'Z Crave pluck 01', 'Z Neutron Bass 01' so when I want to select a previous recording, I only have to scroll down once (hence the 'Z') when selecting synths to reach all my recordings and see them categorized on synthesizer.

Thanks for sharing your insight. How would you make a multisample with this setup? I'm confused as to the next step to add an additional, say, octave sample to my synth. Also, how do you define what is controlling the sidechain? Is it the 'send' button? Is it because the factory kits have already non-zero values of the sidechain sends that you didn't need to do anything but turn up the sidechain value on the synth? 🎵
@simon_jakobsson
@simon_jakobsson 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! Yeah, from my understanding the Kits are the default sidechain sends (but that this can be changed), and so as long as you have a Kit track with notes, all you need to do is dial up the Sidechain on the tracks you want to be affected. I'm not sure about the multisamples, maybe that's something I'll look into next. Thanks again :)

@@simon_jakobsson +1 on the multisamples. I’ve been trying to research it but didn’t get very far. I’d prefer to do maybe 2 samples per octave as well if possible, instead of all notes separately

Good technique for samplers. But if you have the synth sitting there, you might as well midi up. Pitching a sample of a synth is a lofi version of actually synthesizing a frequency

Its a good way to 'freeze' your external gear but you immediately lose the filters and other modulation capabilities of that gear. I guess as long as you are happy to work with the Deluges internal modulation and filters etc then good to go. I used to do this with my amalog gear into my Yammy SU700 and a3000 many moons ago, but immediately knowimg I now rely on the internal filters etc of those digital sounding units.

Great point! You're absolutely right, but as a starting point it works well, especially with less complex sounds. I had a lot of fun sampling my old Casio MT600 synth, where there were little to no effects or evolving sounds. Thanks for watching, and for your comment.

Cool thing about the Deluge though is that it has a battery, so you can sample, then take it somewhere, without needing to bring along other gear and cables. Imagine sampling a Sequential synth, then playing around with it in the park, on the bus, in the local cafe, etc. Of course, an iPad offers something similar, with even more possibilities, but without the Deluge tactile interface.
@wiegraf9009
@wiegraf9009 Жыл бұрын
Fair but you can also run the Deluge through an effects unit and then use the resampling function to capture that. It's not the same but that's not necessarily bad.
