I just got my raw, unrefined, un filtered butter today. It's A grade. It's the same mild yellow colour. Very buttery but the smell is strong and it's something like I have never smelled before. It's turning out too strong for me if I apply too much of the butte on my skin. I can't say if it's nutty or earthy but I think it's slightly smoky. Almost giving me a heavy head. I am thinking of mixing it with cocoa powder to remove its smell. How do I further tell of it's a good smell or a bad smell. It's a strong one for sure.

No, dreads do not breed lice. However, if you get in contact with someone or a pet who has lice, your locs could get infested with lice. Getting lice out if locs may be a bit tricky to tackle that's why it is important to avoid sharing tools or playing with people or animals who have lice.

But what can you do when your locs merge together constantly at the roots? My 12 year old has locs and a lot, really a lot of hair and the hair at the roots constantly merges together and gets tangled up together. So I need to seperate them. Detangling strand by strand is litterally impossible to do and we sperate every week. Otherwise it's all matted together.
@LilianOkibe12 күн бұрын
@@CelienMaes Reducing how often you wet their roots can reduce the matting but if you can't do that, it's fine. It is okay to separate the locs as long as you are gentle to not break or uproot the hair strands in the process. Doing this can be more time consuming but it is totally worth it because it will cause the matting to reduce drastically after some time. The more short, broken hair strands you have that are not firmly connected to a loc, the more matting will occur. Carelessly breaking hair strands to separate the locs may seem like a reasonable quick fix but it increases the matting over time.❤️❤️❤️

You are so right! I can do a half up haırstyle and I can tolerate the weight for about 4 hours before my head begins to feel the weight of my hair and begins to ache. When I’m going out on a date with my husband I put my hair up just before we leave. I usually take my locs down in the car coming home. This is funny because I started my first set of locs with 96 two strand twists. A month later I took them down and installed approximately 212 locs (current count) so I could have more options for styling my locs over the years to come. (This is the hair style I was intended to have.) Funny thing ıs is I seldom style my locs at all. I let them lie out and lie down and I love on them. I was tender headed before getting locs. It’s ridiculous now but I wouldn’t change a thing. I’m struggling with whether or not I should keep trimming my bangs. The bangs hide my big forehead 👍🏾 but I have trimmed all of the original two strand twist part off my locs and the next section of the front locs is interlocked. These ends bud out into little balls at the end of the loc after they have been cut😢. Any suggestions you have for that would be appreciated. Since September 2024 I have stopped interlocking and use the Okibe method for keeping hair that doesn’t grow into the loc associated with the right loc. This past week I thought I better interlock before Christmas. When I felt the locs in the back the new growth was locking in the locs except for maybe a quarter of an inch from the roots. 😮😊🎉 I don’t think this would have happened with my starter locs . I plan to see if this maintenance will work through 2025. I was afraid my smaller locs would be compromised. My hair is thick and mostly 4C but even the 4B sections arelocking with in the structure of the loc. This really making my hair look longer faster. Thanks Lilian. Your advice has been on point for me.🎉
@LilianOkibeАй бұрын
I can relate to your experience. I also started my locs thinking I was going to maximise all my styling options but I hardly style my locs these days. People say that having locs makes you a lazy natural.😂😂 As for the ends of your locs forming buds, this is what you can do to reduce that: cut each loc at an angle, wet the end a little bit and palm roll to close it up. Those buds form when hair sheds out of the loc. If you can seal the ends as quickly as possible, it'll help prevent the buds. I'm glad that you find my tips helpful. Thank you so much for your support.🤗🤗😘😘😘
