Hi dear, stress is what caused mine & lack of hair maintenance. Going months without retwist or not washing enough. This was because I had a person doing my hair that I trusted but found that I had to find out what my hair liked & didn’t. I’m doing better now because I’ve been eating more fruits and vegetables. & drinking smoothies, water ect. A tight retwist can cause hair loss also.

Even before I locked my hair, I’ve always had thinning in the crown. I have tried so many at home remedies (onion juice, tea rinses, castor oil) but nothing really seems to help. I have even gone to see a dermatologist, he said that it’s probably the effect of years of relaxer use before I went natural. He told me to stop “massaging” my scalp with castor oil because the friction will make my hair loss worse. He never did a biopsy he just looked at it, so part of me feels like he dismissed my concerns and I’m not really satisfied with that answer. However I don’t want to develop a complex so I try to just accept it.

A second opinion might be a good thing to get. If you don’t use a lot of Jamaican black castor oil, just some in the palm of your hand once or twice a week is enough. I like to massage my scalp with the pads of my fingertips only. I rotate my fingertips in one place and then lift my fingers and move to another place on my scalp. This stimulates my scalp and helps distribute my natural sebum. I believe this type of scalp massage has helped my hair grow. I do this everyday because it feels really good too.

I'm so sorry about your experience.🤗🤗 I understand why your dermatologist would say that massaging will make the hair loss worse. Scalp massages can be good or bad, depending on how you do it. Many people just scratch with their nails or finger pads in the name of "scalp massages". If done correctly with a little oil on your hands, there will be minimal movement and little to no friction. Bettye already described how best to do it. If you're not satisfied with your dermatologist, you should seek another. It'll help to find someone who specializes in afro textured hair.❤️❤️❤️

Hi, I had the same problem and saw a dermatologist who did a biopsy of my scalp which came back with, a "Chemical Burn" and I was advised to stop relaxing my hair. She also told me that my hair would never regrow in that area again because it was damaged and it hasn't. I have tried the onion juice with ginger and it still did not help, nothing I used, so I have accepted it. I started my loc journey about seven months ago (I had been natural for about ten to twelve years and had grown my hair to waist length, with the bald spot lol!) and I wish I had done so sooner. My hair is fine but so far I am able to pull my hair over the bald spot to cover it up, so don't give up. I still use my mixture of onion and ginger with essential oils as it helps promote hair growth in other parts of my hair. I mist my locs daily with Aleo Vera juice, rosewater, and essential oils. I also use Shea butter mixture about once a week (I used to use it more frequently when I had loose hair) and I have not noticed any buildup. I shampoo my hair every two to four weeks with a clarifying shampoo, than a moisturizing shampoo because the clarifying shampoo drys out my hair. I do occasionally use a conditioner, I hope this helped.

Hey good video quick question can hair breakage cause hair to look thin and also can your oil help thicken follicles and strands back up?
@LilianOkibe
@LilianOkibe Жыл бұрын
Yes breakage can make hair appear thin. The Okibe Multipurpose Healing Oil can help make the hair thicker AKA more dense but we've not seen any incidence of it thickening follicles. I don't think that's possible.❤️❤️❤️

@@LilianOkibehi another quick question does pickin hair with a metal pick cause breakage as well?? If over doin it
@LilianOkibe
@LilianOkibe Жыл бұрын
I'm assuming you have loose natural hair; it depends on how you're picking it. It won't cause breakage if you're gently lifting the hair up at the root and not combing it through.❤️❤️
