Good review. I was surprised to hear that Aventon's original Aventure had a 30.4mm seatpost. The Aventure.2 uses a 30.9mm seatpost. If replacing the Aventon seatpost with a Suntour (which I recommend having ridden on one since my first in 2018) you need to be aware of your options: original Aventure - order the Suntour NCX SP12 (in either 350 or 400mm length but is a 27.2mm diameter. You will need to additionally acquire a 27.2-30.4mm shim. Cane Creek makes a myriad of well made shims and is a good source. Note: some SP12's come in 31.6mm diameter.....be specific. Aventure.2 - because the newer Aventure.2 uses 30.9mm seatpost diameter, I recommend that you purchase the new model Suntour NCX SP25 (replaces the older SP17) with a more robust construction in the suspension unit itself. This unit, since it matches the Aventure.2's seat TUBE's inner diameter, does NOT require any shim. As of July 2024, these units are just hitting the market and may take awhile to be universally available. I believe the SP25's come only in the 350mm length. For me (6') that's plenty adequate.....and I like my leg to be stretched out while pedaling for preservation of the knees! I also heartily recommend 2 accessories: Dust cover - not only do I ride in bumpy but dusty areas AND I transit the bike (ie on a vehicle rack) to any number of trailheads in any number of weather conditions. The dust cover protects the suspension seatpost from road grime as well as trail dust/debris. If you're not within the tolerances of the default spring set (140-195 lbs), do YOURSELF a favor and get the appropriate set of springs to better allow the suspension seatpost to function the way that it's suppose to. If you weigh less than 140 lbs and don't use a lighter (blue) spring, you'll forfeit suspension on lesser bumps. If you're heavier than 190 lbs (and I am) and don't replace the default spring with a red "hard" one, then I guarantee that you're either riding smooth terrain or that you're bottoming out the suspension seatpost...and will regret it.

OK. In looking at the video, the stem went on with 4 bolts (look at time 2:50 in Ep 3). The screen bolts went on the outside of the stem bolts, and the one bolt for the light went to the right of controller screen. If it's too loose, you can use some thin rubber strips to close the gap to tighten it. Just be careful not to pull the cord on the light. Let me know!

For certain ebike displays (and cellphones) it might help if the sunglasses are non-polarized as well. Some displays are hard to see when viewed through polarized lenses. Check before buying! Another thing that might make your ride more comfortable on your rigid non suspension bike is a suspension seatpost. Even if you are riding mostly pavement it can help to reduce some bumps and felt shock to the butt and up into your back when hitting less than perfect pavement areas. I see many people recommending the Suntour seatpost as a reasonably priced version which provides the benefit of comfort without causing too much "bobbing" during hard pedaling.
@Marvelofebikes

Absolutely! Don’t use polarized sunglasses as you won’t see the screen. I did get the Suntour seat post and got a new one for my new bike. Will be showing that in episode 29. Thanks!

Loved the range test. I bought my Aventon Pace 500.3 last year and found that I like to feather the assist only when I really need it on my long rides. I start out in the morning with a set of fresh legs which I use more frequently and tend to turn on the assist only on inclines. After a few hours when I begin to tire in the afternoon I'll tend to need to use the assist on ECO mode more often. The longest ride I was able to complete last year was 104.4 miles and still had about 25% of the battery left. I always get a bit of battery anxiety on these long ride and over compensate with leg power when I could have utilized the battery more, but at 67 years old I love the fact that Aventon allows me to really go wherever I want. I'm lucky to live in Ohio which has an extended rail trail system that connects Cincinnati all the way North to Piqua, OH, Bellefontaine, OH or even all the way up to Cleveland. Ther's also a connect to Indiana's Cardinal Greenway that allows a ride west 62 mi. to Muncie, IN. I want to do some of those multi-day trips this year, but need to figure out how to pack a second battery to ensure I won't end up being stuck out in the middle of nowhere. Thanks for this video. I'm heading to your 2nd video to see what you added as accessories. Keep on riding!!

I have the aventure 2. It's a very heavy bike. Riding it without assist for any extended period is a challenge. On flat ground or downhill is doable but speeds are going to be minimal. I do this for short periods just to guarantee more of a workout and to extend the range.

I did that on my Aventon Level 2 because the initial setup was uncomfortable, straining neck and back as well as hurting the hands with the hard round grips. However the front brake line was too short and I had a devil of a time replacing the line. I finally went to a bike shop to get the new hydraulic line installed and the brakes blead.

your math is seriously flawed!!! you have to account for the adapter and rack length. Since you do not have an axle, any weight added to hitch has to be multiplied by the distance from the hitch joint. (weight hanging strait down = 50 lbs but extend out just 1 foot and now it ways way more due to mechanical advantage AKA leverage...) Best advice i can give is modify a cheap motorcycle rack it can handle the load no worries!

Thanks for the video. It was very well explained It seems so many of these changes and upgrades should be simple and easy to do at face value. But when you start to do the research into what’s going to work in your application, what tools you’re going to need, and the time you have to put into it. It’s more complicated than it initially appeared to be and can be somewhat of a pita too. Appreciate the time you put into it. As a side note. I’ve typically cleaned the underside of my Aventure the lazy way with a soft bristle brush just to make it easy. I got under it the other day to really detail it and I was surprised to see how vulnerable some of the wires are under there. It looks like a skid plate of some kind is in order. I hope someone makes one that adds some protection for those wires?

It’s my constant tinkering that I like as well as the rides. Future video will show what I put on to protect the bottom!
