Loved the range test. I bought my Aventon Pace 500.3 last year and found that I like to feather the assist only when I really need it on my long rides. I start out in the morning with a set of fresh legs which I use more frequently and tend to turn on the assist only on inclines. After a few hours when I begin to tire in the afternoon I'll tend to need to use the assist on ECO mode more often. The longest ride I was able to complete last year was 104.4 miles and still had about 25% of the battery left. I always get a bit of battery anxiety on these long ride and over compensate with leg power when I could have utilized the battery more, but at 67 years old I love the fact that Aventon allows me to really go wherever I want. I'm lucky to live in Ohio which has an extended rail trail system that connects Cincinnati all the way North to Piqua, OH, Bellefontaine, OH or even all the way up to Cleveland. Ther's also a connect to Indiana's Cardinal Greenway that allows a ride west 62 mi. to Muncie, IN. I want to do some of those multi-day trips this year, but need to figure out how to pack a second battery to ensure I won't end up being stuck out in the middle of nowhere. Thanks for this video. I'm heading to your 2nd video to see what you added as accessories. Keep on riding!!

I have the aventure 2. It's a very heavy bike. Riding it without assist for any extended period is a challenge. On flat ground or downhill is doable but speeds are going to be minimal. I do this for short periods just to guarantee more of a workout and to extend the range.

Just saw this. Awesome story! Hopefully you can ride in good spring weather. Sounds like a great place to ride

45miles using level 2 and 3 as much as you did is actually really good.

It takes many hours to produce a video this size. 6:00 Jam'n Every so often, the riding becomes very smooth & comfortable. I went on a long bike hike, shakedown just to test my fitness. I went from Yakima to Fort Simco & half-way back one day, taking it easy, as the summer sun was baking just over 90 F. I'm 220 lbs & 30 lbs of that is flab. I had a real good time without a motor. The Aventon is on my radar, and there is a rental dealer 5 miles from me. I have never ridden one.

I did a a ride on an Aventonfirst model, ride 65-70 degrees temperature pedal assistance 2 the whole ride 44.7 miles with 2% battery left. Medium frame and I weigh 205. Light wind mostly flat mid point went up a hill long but not very steep.

A lot of your trip is similar to my experience on my Aventon Aventure. I weigh more at 250lbs, bike weighs more due to accessories at 85lbs, I rode at level assist 1 or 2 about 80% of the time, I used throttle to start from a stop for about 2 or 3 seconds, it was a lot more hilly, and I didn't notice any strong headwinds. At 56% battery I was optimistic at getting over 50 miles, but the battery depleted much more quickly on 2nd half of journey so I didn't get that estimated range. Also, I didn't do a trip meter so I don't know exact miles, but looking at the odometer reading in my video a few times I could see it, I estimated the miles were around 41. I enjoyed your video even with the audio issues. The ride looked safer than most of mine, although I have no threat of a gator jumping out of the weeds to create issues.

Good one… have about 500 miles on mine…have not done the kind of test you did…down to zero….. what I have found is that using power settings 4 & 5 the battery gets used up very quickly… like you I leave the gearing at 6-8…I estimate that leaving the power settings at 1-3 I get similar results… if I use power settings 4-5 a lot I get 20-24 miles…. I ride very hilly terrain and I like to move along at about 20 mph… I weigh in at 230 lb…one of the things I do to get more miles is put power setting at 0 on flat terrain and gears set at 8 but as stated most areas I ride are very hilly and steep… looking forward to your next posting… hope you made it through the hurricane unscathed.

The new Level 2 is a very appealing Ebike. I expected to do more off-road riding when I bought the Aventure than I do. The bike handles mild trail riding with no problem. The problem is cleaning up the chain, cassette and the rest of the bike more often when you go off-roading. The Level 2 might be a better choice for riding streets and sidewalks which is now where the majority of my riding is done. Although it is awfully handy that the Aventure can transition from hard surfaces to grass and sand at any given moment. One of my sons has two Ebikes, one from Trek and the other from Specialized. They both use mid-drive motors with torque sensors and they’re so nice to ride. The power delivery is seamless. Of course all that quality and refinement is reflected in the price too. Highly recommend test riding an Ebike with torque sensors if you get a chance. Most of them don’t incorporate a thumb throttle though. The Level 2 does which is cool Ebikes with cadence sensors aren’t going to deliver the smooth power delivery you’d get from an Ebike that uses torque sensors, that’s a well known fact. With that said, the Aventon Aventure’s thumb throttle delay and poor PAS management system is a real disappointment imho even when you take into account a cadence sensor system is going to have it’s downfalls. There are other brands available in the same price range or less, that offer more programmability to customize the the power management system. Other than that the Aventure has been a very good bike and a good valve. The new Level 2 comes with a torque sensor type power management system, problem solved, Right? Having the cadence sensors set up on the Aventure would be fine with me if Aventon had done a better job programming it in stock form right from the factory and/or made it programable for the end user. At this point I can’t say I would trust Aventon to get it right on the Level 2 even though it’s a different power management system. Like the Aventure I don’t doubt the Level 2 is a solid bike mechanically. It’s the “E” part of the “Ebike” equation I’d be worried about. Time will tell. In the meantime I’ll wait until the bike has been out on the streets for a year or two before considering one see how it h pans out. I haven’t had a problem with the registration or customer service from Aventon either. It wouldn’t hurt if they had a technical support phone line though. All of my correspondence with them have been through emails. They’ve handled my questions and small problems quickly and efficiently. I did a quick scan of my emails from Aventon and didn’t see one from them regarding extending my warranty. At least it isn’t mention in any of the subject titles. Hmm, maybe they favored you because of your positive reviews of the Aventure in your KZbin videos. LOL I like your videos too but for any other Aventure owners who are watching this video. I wouldn’t count on Aventon extending their warranty period either. The only time I’ve checked the real world range Aventon claims was this last June. Riding on flat roads, using PAS level 5 and only stopping a couple of times for cross traffic, it went 18 miles before I turned off the battery power with 9% remaining. Aventon claims 19 miles using PAS 5. Wouldn’t be surprised to see some riders surpass that without too much trouble. It was flying for the first 15 miles but the power and battery percentage dropped like a rock during the last 3 miles. I’m 5’10” with a long torso, and weigh around 195 lbs. My medium frame step-over weighs in at slightly over 90 lbs with front and rear racks, saddlebags, tools, a lock, water bottles, other misc. accessories and whatnot

Great stuff! I was new to E-bikes when I purchased and have learned a lot over the past year. Not really concerned about throttles, as it is a tool as needed. I do like some assist but exercise is the main objective for me. Yes, there are so many options out there now. The Level 2 may be a better spec for my riding styles but I am sill enjoying the Aventon Aventure. I’m sure Aventon has never heard of me or my channel and they have never reached out to me. That’s okay by me as I want to inspire some older folks to get out there and enjoy life before the first thing they get to ride is a wheelchair!
