So in your work from home scenario, you work between 9-11, 1-3 and 5-7? I don't think that's realistic for most people who work from home (myself included). But it can be adjusted I guess. Also, my puppy is so small, that his daily amount of food is very little. So, I can't drag his training sessions for that long unfortunately. 😢 Maybe just a few minutes. Good thing is that they learn fast.

Everyone's ~work from home~ situation is different and thankfully my job is performance/deliverable based - not time clocked in based. So I can work whenever wherever as long as I am meeting deadlines, etc. So this kind of flexible schedule works well for me. This video is to be used as a starting point or an example of a WFH schedule to build out and adjust as needed for your specific scenario. <3 every pup is different!

should we wait until our puppy is out of the teething phase to do these? our 11 week old golden gets frustrated even just with the slow feeder bowls and will try to eat the bowl. i would love to try puzzles like this, but i think he would just start tearing apart

Sorry, but 8 weeks is too soon to take a puppy from its Mom. Minimum 10 weeks and 12 is better.
@FreyaAndBeylaКүн бұрын
thank you for this! I believe things are changing, but when I got Freya 4+ years ago and Beyla 2+ years ago it was "normal" to take pups home around 8 weeks old here in the US.

This is an old video and you’ve probably ironed out a method that works perfectly for you. I just wanted to share with you what we’ve done in the past. In the past, we went to the dollar store and picked up a cheap Tupperware container and one of those measuring cups. We would measure out all the food they need and put in the Tupperware container and then just use the scoop the same way we would at home . Each container in case one of them is allergic to chicken. You just make sure you had a special scoop just for her.

Yeah everything I read online about puppies and needing to pee in the night seemed wrong for my golden. I put her down at 9pm. 1am wee break. She's good until 7am. The other day at 9 weeks I slept through the 1am alarm and she held it all night. Big breed, big bladder I guess? Once she reaches 12 weeks, I will stop bothering with the 1am toilet break I think.
@FreyaAndBeylaКүн бұрын
breed and size definitely play a role!!! and every pup is different. My Aussie (same size as my golden) needed the 1 hour every hour when she was itty bitty and peed pretty much every time. My golden, she's all over the place hahaha.
@georgestone80996 ай бұрын
You ever tried swap backs? So she wants to go in one direction, if she pulls you just fully change direction for a bit. Keep doing it, until she's kinda confused so looks for you for direction. I had luck with that with am English spaniel (really bad pullers) and wondering if I can do it with my golden.

What was the online course you used to train Freya?
@FreyaAndBeylaКүн бұрын
I purchased Fenrir's Perfect Puppy Course. HOWEVER, when I purchased it, it was only ~$150 but now it is EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE!!! I liked all of the content, but in my honest opinion, it's hard to recommend something with that price tag.

So with those swiveling hooks, I’ve seen them break if the dog pulls hard enough. Not saying your dog is gonna break it, but a good friend of mine has a feed store and got them returned broken often enough to not carry them anymore.

Amazing videos. Have been watching all your dog videos. I would love to know what you recommend more for the dog pee pads. The smart paws with grate. I hear that one is super easy to clean and durable or the dog grass pee pad with tray reviews say it’s harder to clean but does have that grass look to it. We are trying to decide which one to purchase and you have had both items. Thank you!

My dog is part Aussie so I think that is how he would react to a new puppy! Except he would probably be scared of the pup at first!😂

Did Freya go into heat? My 5 month old Aussie is going into heat right now. There's a lot of controversy about when to spay your puppy. I'm just curious about your thoughts on waiting a year to 2 years to spay? I am going to wait at least a year.
@FreyaAndBeylaКүн бұрын
she had 1 very SHORT heat cycle. usually their 1st is. so we didn't have anything major, but knew she did before we got her spayed. PERSONALLY I waited a while to ensure she's fully grown and went through 1 heat cycle before spaying. My golden retriever is over 2 years old and just finished her 2nd cycle and we're scheduling hers soon. The bigger the breed, the longer I WANT TO WAIT based on my own research.

Freya is so damn cute! I just wanted to ask, is she a medium coat? I love the length of her coat so much
@FreyaAndBeylaКүн бұрын
She's a Australian Shepherd & English Shepherd mix, so her coat is naturally not as floofy as aussie's you might see, so that helps a ton! BUT, grooming, I usually ask for a "sport cut" so is trimmed to her body shape to keep it shorter to suit her best :)

I work however I get off work about 3 to 330 on most days. I am trying to think of what to add 4 to 6 time period? I know I’m going to take him out for a potty break, but I’m not sure what I want to do. I don’t wanna put him back in his crate if he’s gonna go to bed at 8 o’clock.

Raised Right also makes a gently cooked dog food that has amazing ingredients. Since you’re so into limited ingredient products, I highly recommend their food over any kibble.
