This could be coincidence, but I feel like the origin of Eggman somewhat resembles his portrayal in the first Sonic Movie. In Japanese canon and post-saturn era games lore, Eggman's kind of always been a sort of cartoon villain like dude. In recent lore it's implied he chooses to be known as "Eggman" to keep his actual family name away from his evil schemes. Normal humans exist, Eggman just happens to have Gru proportions. In the Sonic Bible, he's a good scientist who became evil after an encounter with Sonic. Both are pretty standard villain setups. In the movie, Eggman is a scientist whose kind of an eccentric dick, but not necessarily cartoony until his encounters with Sonic make him grow insane, bald, and even more cartoonish than before. If this says anything, it's that movie Eggman's progression is really good at feeling like an adaptation to a lot of different incarnations of his character and really good at progressing him into what he is in the games. Someone more familiar with the Japanese lore would recognize him as an adaptation of Eggman, and someone who only knows of Eggman through the 90s comics or TV shows that used the American lore would still recognize him as Eggman. And the third movie even had his recent development from the games in it.

Speaking of The Bible and Sonic, Vector the Crocodile canonically believes in God. Not only that, but it's the main reason he was ever introduced into the series. It's stated in the Knuckles Chaotix manual. EDIT: Also, according to semi-frequent Sonic facts, Amy has said "Oh my God!" in Sonic Heroes and Shadow said it once in a twitter takeover.

You should check out the document by Naoto Ohshima and Hirozaku Yasuhara they made to present Sonic to Sega of Japan. Actually real interesting and shows the whimsical and aspirational tone the series started with in Japan. Sonic CD especially has that mood since it's the one game directed by Ohshima.

Always love BDG. I like unraveled a fair amount, and I believe he's doing a lot of good work for the Dropout channel these days, but I especially love the music on his own channel. I think the drama is 60% funded by social cannibals and 40% funded by actual criticism of his behavior. I think hating someone for having a big ego is lowkey pathetic. It's a complicated situation with lots of history between these two, and many others in the DSMP. As someone who have only seen a few videos of both, and a much bigger fan of Technoblade, it's all such a dumb, very personal drama. To play devil's advocate, I can understand Dream's situation of being called a groomer by his friends and them making jokes about it, and even asking after not to in private, they'd continue to drag down his image for cheap laughs. It's something that even Tommy's best friend, Tubbo, said it was messed up to do. The issue, I personally think that Dream makes horrible responses and reactions, where whenever there's a chance he's in the right, he ruins it for himself, and sadly, his past controversies are what most people have an image of him by. It's hard to make a non-biased video of Dream, since it catches more views to follow the herd. I'm not saying that Dream isn't in the wrong. He's genuinely so god-damned stupid for tweeting the r-slur, even though he's fostered a fan base of trying to be welcoming for many. Now, you can't even go to his subreddit anymore without people now suddenly switching to "well the r-slur isn't THAT bad, it's just a word" and "He can reclaim it." Well, good job, he's now fostered an unsafe community where his word is law. If you were in the spectrum and felt safe before, now you have tons of his fans saying that it's fine to use the r-slur against people. He was doing well just making videos and streams regularly. He's already proven himself not to be a groomer. But he doesn't learn to shut up. And if he really, truly wanted to vent his perspective, show a more concise video THAT STAYS UP, instead of making streams, tweets and damn reddit post that he just deletes; just as you say, makes it obvious he's reacts with impulse, than his brain. Dream complains about people misrepresenting him. But Dream doesn't realize that he's the problem and shooting himself in the foot - constantly. What he needs is a PR team.
