The RBF in GraXpert and Siril are exactly the same algorithm. You can also adjust the grid tolerance in GraXpert to get more sampling points. Also, you should try doing background extraction per sub in Siril when stacking.
@Astroimagery12 күн бұрын
You can also adjust the grid tolerance in Siril as well. I think it would be very difficult to do extraction on each sub rather than the final stacked image.

I’ve never used flats but I’m at a point I think I need to. However, in Siril, if you load lights, darks and bias/flats, doesn’t Siril stack everything automatically for you in one of the script algorithms? So no need to manually create a master flat the way you did there?
@Astroimagery23 күн бұрын
yes that's correct, but you still need to create the flats. There are various ways to do this as you rightly point out. Good luck would love to know how it goes.

Don't forget that APT has a focus aid utilty. It helps. As you already have a computer controlling your mount and camera, the next step is to add an electronic focuser. The benefits are huge. Here are three: Exact focus every time, Automatic refocus at set times and/or changes in temperature, so you can get more sleep, It is impossible to forget to remove the Bahtinov mask. I just picked up a second hand Lakeside for £60!

That's a fair comment I suppose @WYOPYRO but I have also talked about free image editing that can be done in software such as Siril and Gimp can be substituted for Photoshop mostly. It is simply the way I do it and I felt that more needed to be put out there about the continued use of Photoshop despite the mass transfer that seems to have occurred to Pixinsight. I hope that you don't judge me on one video. Check the others. I have much more to come very soon!

Well, if I am allowed to comment, I would say that I started with Canon EOS450D, Tamron 18-200 lens and cheap tripod. But finally I felt that it's not enough for good images, so I bought UHC filter and Jupiter-37A 135/f3.5 lens (made in USSR) and built astrotracker from 2RVM industrial time relay. Now I can shoot with really long shutter speed without any star trail effect and get a huge amount of details and nuances.

well you could get a simple as-alt mount but having done that I would recommend starting with an eq mount. once you get used to it it’s the best for Astro. Get a popular one with a good reputation such as the Skywatcher HEQ5. I love the mount I have CEM26 from ioptron

Hi, thanks for your question. I prefer to do stretching manually, the arcsin stretch is very good as I explained. Symbolic link option helps by making no actual copies of the files you add to Siril, but just links. It requires you to enable developer mode on Windows though.

@@Astroimagery the manual says: “Technically, when the input files are in FITS format, there is no need to convert them. However, you may want to do so so that the files are renamed to create a sequence and can be processed in Siril. In order not to fill the hard disk unnecessarily, it is then possible to choose the option Symbolic link. This option creates a symbolic link for the FITS files instead of copying them. This option is therefore only available when the output files are FITS images.” From your video I think I saw you had different files (DSLR)

quick and to the point, do you recommend using scripts? Is there an advantage as far as image quality for both stacking and color calibration (using the other option in color calibration)?

Thanks for the question! I have tried using scripts but find I don't really need to use them. I prefer to do these things manually for the most part. If I can find the imaged object in the Photometric colour calibration I use that - it is afaster and gives good results. There is no advantage to use the manual colour calibration that I know of.
