I’m sorry to hear Ron stopped making them. I love mine. I have three of the plate loading clubs and one of the hollow ones you fill with ballast.. I just finished a workout with them. They are my favorites for working out. I do a bunch of movements I learned from you. Thank you.

Where do get these clubs ? N How much do they weigh?
@HeroicSport12 күн бұрын
Hi, try emailing Ron at [email protected] to order Pahlavandles. The weight is depending on the filler. For example: 1 liter water = 1 kg, 1 liter sand = 1,5 kg All the best!

Is 4.5kg a good weight to start with?
@HeroicSport28 күн бұрын
4,5kg is OK for some of the simple moves. For the more complex moves, it really depend on your mobility, strength and spatial awareness. all the best!

@@HeroicSportThank you.. u r right here. I ordered a 4.5 kg Mudgar for basic moves it's fine but for other moves it's difficult. Il be getting a 3 kg now. Thanks again.❤

This workout looks deceptively simple. It was clear that it is the first workout that I try with my new BD-X crossover club (2.05kg). Did it so far with my Pahlavandle with 1.5kg but am not ready for my Pahla XL with 3.6 kg. Some movements like crossover lunge are smoother with wood, some easier ones like reverse 8s are very similar. But getting tired at the end one must pay attention to not hit yourself with the wooden club. Good to have practiced the moves with the normal Pahlas before.

I am 60 years and my body is super stiff. I am studying ancient Indian exercises for improving flexibility and strength. I find old Indian and Asian flow exercises are gentle on joints and less injury prone. They are more of art than exercise and are fun to do. Ordered a pair of 1kg each clubs and will practice your moves.
@HeroicSportАй бұрын
Yes, the circular movements are great for lubricating the joints, and so are the traction forces developped when swinging clubs.

Thanks for the video. Just looking for weight assisted exercises like this for increasing , strength, flexibility and stability. This is all combined to one. The flow exercises are less monotonous and fun to do. I am a senior citizen and this moves are great help to keep the aging body functional. Its challenging but Thanks a lot for breaking it into pieces. You are a good teacher

From memory, about 3kg each. The bigger and heavier clubs limit what type of exercises you can do with them, so it really depends what you want to do.

Are there any risks with any of these movements?
@HeroicSport4 ай бұрын
To be honest, there is risk with anything you do in life, even not doing things... If in doubt, try the movements empty handed. A weight at the end of a lever can create some serious forces, so start light, listen to your body. Finding out for yourself is the probably the only way to know, all the best!

Thank you for this. For some reason, I thought there was an extension of the forefinger on the saber. But it looks like we can maintain the same grip whether our elbows are bent or straight.
@HeroicSport5 ай бұрын
No problem. Some people teach the other technique, and as long as the clubs are really light, it's OK. It's like the ring grip, either keep all fingers on or release some digits. Sometimes it's a question of mobility. It's really hard to define right from wrong if one technique works better for some people. This is the way that makes sense from all my teaching experience, but even then I have had to compromise, and have tried all variations.

@HeroicSport6 ай бұрын
Appreciate that, all the best with those circles!
@davemail6 ай бұрын
I am new to this practice and am swinging a 1 lb club. What I am not achieving that the demonstrator does is a continuous circular movement of the club after the elbow bends. Is this because my club is only 1 lb in weight? It seems that the demonstrator's club is much heavier.
@HeroicSport6 ай бұрын
It could well be. Unless you have shoulder problems, the recommended weight for males back in the hey day of Indian clubs were 1,2-1,5 kg for beginners. 1 lb clubs might not provide enough feedback, and those clubs are usually too short as well. Guidelines for optimum length is toughly from the crease of wrist to armpit.
