Urgh, I really want one, but I know I just won't play it enough. I'm a sucker for handheld stuff, but they mostly spend their lives in the drawer - I'm either too busy or, when at last I'm relaxing, I do it chatting online or watching youtube 😂

😂 how did you manage to talk me into wanting something that wasn’t even on my radar???!?😂 this reminds me of the Sega Game fear I had in the 90’s ( from when I was probably 7 to 11?) 🥹 it was top of the range back then and now kids would likely laugh at it. I loved it - i was an incredibly active young girl but that was my only down time. I played so much sports and all the comps, but it truly was fun to use the game gear at nights and do something different ( and know that I am a HUGE exercise and sport person - I love it and it keeps me sane, ever since I was younger. Even tho I’m incredibly unwell now with no cure , I swim constantly ( and other things) and it is my therapy ). So I know what you mean- they really can be wonderful in i different way ( that must sound so Korny 🤣) Thank you again for the review and your humour! Love your reviews and other posts! This little gadget is going on my wish list … I will just pretend it’s for old times sake 😅

I’d say that I’m sorry but I’m really not 😂 Just like the OG Gameboy, Steam Deck travels with me everywhere now. I’m always on the move and I pretty much built my life around being active. Apart from the time when I ripped my rotator cuffs in 2023 - combo of pain, strong meds and being immobilised for few months got me back into gaming and helped me cope with whatever’s next. I wasn’t sure I’ll be able to do anything with that arm at that point. Games, just like books for folk who can focus on one thing at a time, are excellent way to detach and unwind. I’m sorry to hear that you’re struggling with health :(

Always have a book AND an audiobook And have in on throughout the day while doing everything ( escapism!). That’s a major reason why I was so interested in the shokz openswim! Listen to books while swimming! lol! I always have one on. Honestly, thank you so much for being so helpful and always making me smile ☺️ I hope you are completely recovered and no long term effects. I have a mini 3 with RC which has a great camera and handles great in the wind. I ‘m now thinking of getting a Neo instead of the Flip so I can have a follow me drone and possibly delve into FPV. I was thinking getting the flip for follow me mode but I think I would be disappointed since I already have the mini 3.

Oh I know but it gets helluva shaky when you do - did that in the clip from Cape Town (kitesurfing comparison clip that’s mistakenly marked as “rocksteady” on the Action 4. RS+Boost Lens provides a nice balance of stability and fov

Honest and serious question here, who is excited about the fisheye lense, why and what would you use it for? I don't have a ton of experience with action cams but a friend that uses to record skate and snowboarding videos do and both him and I think that the best thing GoPro ever did was to get rid of the fisheye lense/effect. Like I said, I'm oblivious to if it's just a software setting but still curious about you guys that really like fisheye and why.

The point here is that it’s a wider POV that’s the advantage, with little fish-eye effect, I thought I’ve made that clear 😂 More FOV = better for POV footage. If you’re recording someone else then the linear mode makes more sense. Having said that, most action cameras kinda suck when recording another rider unless you’re up close… had some decent bruises from doing that so many times 🤣

@@JakeOski Yeah, the technical part of more FOV is obvious, i was more curious of the practical side of where and when someone how might not like fisheye would prefer fisheye (as a tool) since most creators i've talked to hate fisheye, POV or not. To each there own i guess.

I get that some people like the effect and it is cool in a very limited short scenario.but I wouldn't want to look at that warped fisheye video for longer period of time. I don't even use the widest FOV in the standard lenses.

Action 5 with Boost Lens (182 degrees) is wider than GoPro with Max Lens Mod (177 degrees). Nad it should, especially if you shoot in 4:3 and then crop whatever you want.

I dont know about battery life man, even on my Action 1, i had 3 batteries, but rarely used more than 1.... always had an small power bank in my camera bag, so charged between shots if needed, most of the time i didnt need to charge before finishing my shots. technology is moving waaaay to fast. Im so glad i used my Action 1 for so many years (5 years), honestly the action 1 on our family holidays on day time still looks very good and very watchable <3 I wanted and hoped for an 1inch Dji action camera, but THEY GOT ME! with the action 4 sale for just 210$, i had to get it! haha! FINALLY I CAN SKIP THE MUST MIC ADAPTER ON THE ACTION 1 HAAHHAHA! cant wait to just connect the Mic Mini direct with Bluetooth <3 GREAT VIDEO DUDE! I WATCHED EVERY SECONDS!

Thanks dude! Yeah that voice was straight from the camera without the Mic Mini / Mic 2 attached - otherwise the sound would be MUCH better. Also, having the mic under the jacket helps a lot when it's windy - just like a lav mic :)

Can’t speak to the durability of Suunto but the Wing are still going strong and I’ve just kicked the life out of Suunto Aqua (review soon) and they’re pretty awesome too. What happened to your Shokz if you don’t mind me asking?

It’s an action drone… perfect for skiing, biking, hiking, family trips, vlogging - and it’s got an awesome camera. It’s half the price of the Mini 4 - not fair that everyone’s comparing it to that… plus the Mini 4 needs a controller.. which is a pain in the ass if your skiing, hiking, etc.

In a way but then it doesn't really avoid any obstacles - just stops. At least Neo did its best to go around stuff. And as I said - as a basic package it's a good deal. As a fly-more... not so much.

Kiteloops are mostly just a mental thing - having said that, I'm still pretty shit at these... that bike crash that took my arm off kinda made me slow down with some of the stuff. But in general, all you have to start with is trying to jump vertically without much horizontal drift and practice spinning your body to face the kite. Contrary to old YT videos you don't need to go high anymore provided you've got some fairly modern kites. You're absolutely fine throwing a loop at 3-4m and ideally when you're not lit on your 9m or 10m kite. Just crank the bar and you'll be surprised how easy it is :) Good luck dude!

I guess i'll be playing games i can control with one hand for awhile. good advice all around, thanks! I cant decide if i want to try to sleep on my side, get a wedge, or buy a recliner. Currently in that 4hr zone cause i didnt take more painkillers and my nerve block wore off while asleep

Ah dude, sorry to hear that! Yeah it sucks big time when the nerve blocker wears off. Definitely get some sort of a wedge at least, as steep as you can as sleeping on your healthy side will still be painful and it's hard to turn and get off the bed that way. I think I've started sleeping on my healthy side after 3 weeks or so. You should be able to play on PS5 with no probs just lift the controller up the fixed arm and don't move it in the shoulder. It blows but it'll get better! 💪🏻

Thank you for the video, please can I ask how the Action 5 with this lense compares to a GoPro10 with the Max lens mod in good light for image stabilisation and horizon levelling? I'm on the fence of moving to DJI even though the GoPro is rather annoying. My main use is Kiting and snowboarding so stabilisation and robustness are key. Cheers

I was in the same boat but now I've fully switched to DJI - the stabilisation is on point and picture quality is epic. GoPro had a bit more lively colours straight out of the camera which I really liked but it's easy to tweak that in post. Horizon leveling works well but I seldom use it as the camera is usually on my bite mount. As for robustness - so far so good!

Actually the watch itself downloads the maps via WIFI while on the charger, not the phone... It's painfully slow, but the maps are nice and the watch is way quicker with them than Garmin is...

I’d say so! The Pro is fine for colours and I’m now experimenting with new iPad Mini too but the RM2 is still my favourite note taking alternative to a classic notebook

Something is not quite right here. ND8 and ND16 footage looks equally exposed to me, which can't be true with same ISO, 1 EV must be visually noticeable.

I think you need to adjust your screen - ND16 on "Auto" mode is darker, look ash highlights in the grass on the right vs ND8. And the mention blur + highlights difference in ND16 when flying with goggles.

I own Open Run (I'm still angry they didn't provide hard case for such priced hardware). I bought it because it was bone conduction, and also IP67. I used it almost daily for 3 years in office setting and charge it during lunch when I move to wired earphone. Should I upgrade? Also, is IP55 good for heavy rain? I plan to use this for hiking too.

I haven't tested them in heavy rain but they fared OK in the standard Scottish drizzle. They sound cleaner than the standard bone conduction headphones but the downside is that their IP rating is lower.

This convinced me, thanks Jake. I already had the Mic 2, but a few things annoyed me - mainly not being able to store the wind muff inside the case - so my Mic Mini arrived today and I'm super happy with it. I'll be putting my Mic 2 kit up for sale!

Stoked I could help! I still often use Mic 2 for the 32 bit float - e.g. when recording via shotgun that's connected to the Mic 2 transmitter and then doubling it up with receiver on the camera so I've got choices if I mess settings up. But that Mic Mini is epic, just don't overcook with the preamp settings in camera to avoid clipping :)

I live close to some beautiful nature but I am not able to go outside a lot because I'm sick. So I wander if I would buy this drone. Just to fly this drone over the fields and river when I can't go out. The quality of the video seems oke and the noise is not too much so nobody will complain. Never used a drone and this is a nice drone to try it out for a nice price I think

It's a nice little drone if you stick to the basic package. If you're looking at Fly More Combo then I'd add about 20% of the budget and get the Mini 4 Pro. But at the base price of the drone + battery + controller - it's really decent!

I hear ya! It's great for messing around in FPV or quick shots when I don't want to carry my large drone around - or even the DJI Mini 4 Pro as it needs setting up. Every additional step kinda limits my willingness to do stuff because... of laziness 🤣 Neo lives in my camera bag as it weights nothing.

Just do not get this drone, I have the Neo and will be very interested in the mini 5 pro. However the m4p is just amazing value at the moment at least for the fly more combo vs the Flip combo only 25% difference.

That’s pretty much what I said - if someone’s thinking of going for the DJI Flip Fly More Combo it makes more sense to get the DJI Mini 4 Pro for sure. At a base price though it’s a decent drone for someone who doesn’t own any yet. Can’t wait for Mini 5 Pro though! A bigger sensor and I’m defo sold!

I bought Mini 3 (non pro) 2 days before launch for £309. It has only 30 fps and obstacle sensor. I’m thinking of returning it and get DJI flip instead for £369, what do you suggest?

I'd say so - it's gonna be a bit less resistant to the wind but overall it gives you more options plus being able to film in DLOG-M.

It's basically a stripped-down version of the DJI Mini 4 Pro. Not their best product but it has it's advantages for someone who doesn't own a drone and want's something cheap and cheerful with much better picture quality than the Neo.

Nah you don't need one, I never use one either. The sound is really decent for the type of headset and it stays on your head in most scenarios - mine has not fallen off yet and between surfing and kitesurfing that's a decent score!

I found this on reddit & would love to know if it worked for you with switching folders ( do the pro have folders??): “SOLUTION: How to Change Folders in Shozk OpenSwim Pro I solved the folder problem by switching to shuffle mode, then changing a couple of songs until I recognize the other folder, and then switch it back to normal mode to select previous and next songs from that other folder. I did several tests and always switches between folders at 2nd and 3rd try. Unfortunately this is the only alternative solution since the OpenSwim Pro does not have a folder-switching function as indicated by customer service and confirmed in the user manual.”

Got to try this on my headphones today and it works! Bloody awesome :) You just have to remember which songs are in which folder! To shuffle between the normal/shuffle/repeat modes without using the phone press Volume+ and Multifunction button (on the side of the speaker) for 2 secs.

@@JakeOski So glad it helped! Also if you have trouble getting the songs to play in the same order as on your computer if you batch drag to the shokz, I found this on shokz site. It makes sense- usbs and other things rearrange it too do to how they work. This should allow you to have the songs in the order you want. If it doesn’t work, do stem 2 kind of in reverse ( ie at step “2)” Click to select the first file. Hold down the shift button on the keyboard and click to select the last file. At this time, 1~20 are all selected). Still scared to open mine and not sure what to do or if I should swap- feel horrendous as they were a gift. Just scared it may get tiresome sorting things Links I tried to put in were seen as spam so just search “int help shokz how to lost track order on openswim formerly x trainer” & “en help shokz Name how to list tracks order “ . Hopefully it will come up

@ ah! Have you tried to stream music from your phone via Bluetooth to the Suntoo aqua headphones while swimming ? The shokz apparently can a little so wonder if the suunto aqua can too?

@@PaigeEscapes only when neither of the devices is under water - BT doesn't penetrate liquids so it cuts off. In theory, if you keep your head above the water you're fine but as soon as you dive to make a turn it will cut off.

@ nah don't, it's just option to make playlists with mp3's. In the first version of Openswims we've had an option to switch between the folders which was taken away in the Pro's for some bizarre reason. Both sound very similar as there's only so much you can do with bone conduction tech. I've been using these since the release date (bikes, runs, skateboarding, kitesurfing) and they've done awesome. So don't get FOMO over small things :-)

@ gosh! Thank you!! So keep the shokz? They are still the best? I still can have folders but just not switch them in the mp3 mode? And I made a comment about folder switching- found it on reddit ☺️ Someone apparently fixed the folder issue…. “SOLUTION: How to Change Folders in Shozk OpenSwim Pro I solved the folder problem by switching to shuffle mode, then changing a couple of songs until I recognize the other folder, and then switch it back to normal mode to select previous and next songs from that other folder. I did several tests and always switches between folders at 2nd and 3rd try. Unfortunately this is the only alternative solution since the OpenSwim Pro does not have a folder-switching function as indicated by customer service and confirmed in the user manual.”

@ I am SO sorry again! Can you actually change folders on the headphones when I’m mo3 mode? Understand you can create playlists on the app but swapping folders/ playlists easy on the headset when in mo3 mode? I just read that it is not possible

Thank you, you've saved me wasting my money upgrading from my RM2, which I adore, to the RM Pro. The benefit's aren't worth it, my RM2 does everything I need.
