I love laying on the balcony late at night scantily clad, if you will 😂 plus leaving the door open while chilling in bed is amazing

We love balconies. It's peaceful and relaxing to watch the waves while the ship is cruising. Plus I'm chlosterphobic and can’t handle feeling trapped.

I have just booked a cruise around Japan for next year and definitely need a Balcony cabin. I love the fresh air and sitting outside with a cuppa tea. My legs swell a lot and it’s nice to look at the outside view whilst stuck in bed. If I can’t afford a Balcony cabin, then, might as well not travel. Quality enjoyment 👍🏻😁

Good info. Can you or someone else tell me the "size/year" threshold? I mean for example like, "newer than 2020 and bigger than 120,000 tons? I've never taken a cruise so all ships seems big to me.

We purchased a drink package for our cruise that departs from nyc and they did charge us for the first day. They also did not disclose that you could not use it on the first day. This is also the only place I have ever heard that this is the case. Can anyone shed some light on this? Is this true?

I like outside cabine. I sometimes take balcony when at a better place or for my best friend. I like be able to watch the ocean from my staterroom. I do not like balconies especially, I nearly never go on it, but no windows it's a bit creepy

Typically there are no interior cabins when traveling by freighter. Some travel agents specialize in freighter travel.

Good video. 1) The Sunshine is a Frankenship. The layout is confusing and it is not well done. 2) When they converted it from the Destiny to the Sunshine, they made the theater a "multi-purpose" room. It does none of it's purposes well. Also, in the upper level, the rise of the steps is not consistent. I almost did a face plant twice until I figured out why. Every 3rd step is different. 3) Charleston has been making the port crappier and crappier. It use to be our favorite port to cruise from. The people in the city don't want cruise ships. They are closing the port. I bet they thought they would get a beautiful waterfront to replace the cruise port. Instead, they are getting crappy million dollar condos. Money talks. Don't worry, it is going to be under water soon. The parking lot has flooded a couple of times during king tides and tropical storms. You use to park inside the warehouses, around 3ft higher and covered. We have sailed out of Charleston 6 times. We have sailed twice on the Sunshine, once out of Charleston and once out of Barcelona. The Barcelona sailing was it's second sailing after it became the Sunshine. Since the itinerary was the W. Mediterranean, the ship was just a means to an end, to get some great destinations. The sailing out of Charleston was our least favorite cruise ever. We realized all the things we did not like about the ship. Our following cruise on the Elation out of Jacksonville restored our faith in Carnival. While an old as dirt ship. the port is great (like Charleston use to be), the service was very good, and the food was typical Carnival.

I would never recommend guaranteed cabins, because it only takes the first time that your assigned cabin is in an undesirable area, that can ruin your vacation, especially if sleep is part of your vacation. Since this cruise is going to be costly, regardless, be sure to have a cabin YOU select, after evaluating where it is. Gone are the days of booking a guaranteed cabin that gives you an upgrade-that used to happen. To save money, book that inside cabin that YOU select. Also, she mentioned bringing medications, but pack IN YOUR CARRY-ON, not your checked luggage. This is also true for your travel documents such as your passport, boarding pass and reservations you made before embarking. It’s important that you check online in BEFORE embarking, through the app or website. You can check-in at the port, but pre-checking in can save you lots of time on embarkation day. It can take hours to get your luggage on day one, or if lost. I like that she states to work with a good experienced CRUISE travel agent, because a lot of these suggestions they can help you with, especially where to select your cabin. Be careful of using social media, because people can only help within the limits of their experience, and your circumstances can be different enough and not align with the answers you get. Everything else is perfect. Bon Voyage!

Inside cabin is completely out of the question for someone who is prone to motion sickness. In rough seas, without a fixed object to focus on, chronic seasickness is a living hell, and drugs, gum, patches and wristbands can only do so much.

We cruised on that ship right after Covid, in 2021. My daughter slept in what looked like a dog bed. Not enough food, and a 3 hour wait for room service at 8 pm. Worst cruise ever!

Sunshine was our least favorite also. Was disappointed in the condition and also noticed the unpleasant smell I our stateroom bathroom and hallways. Never was on a ship with wooden cabin stateroom walls😅.

After watching this video, I realize I don't spend much time in the room, nor do I look out the balcony as much. BUT, the exclusive perks for suites (specifically Disney concierge) are very convincing...that's how they get you...

I only done one cruise, but I was on a inside room and loved it, I was affraid of missing the tranquilty and quiet time that a room with balcony can procure. But of find many spot on the ship where I could find quietplace. I was on the NCL Jade and the Spinnaker Lounge was always empty during day with nice chair looking a the sea. Also, sleeping in inside cabin when you close the light, it's pitch black, perfect for people sensible to light when they sleep

We did this on our very first cruise. Never again. We always go for balconies or in colder weather we will do an outside cabin but never an inside again it was claustrophobic. I like to be able to see outside. I can see why someone might consider it for price reasons but I would rather not go.

I always travel with a heavy duty extension cord and a multi charger. Cabins may have only one outlet. 3M detachable hangers/hooks do not leave a residue or scratches some can hold as much as 5 pounds.

I prefer an interior cabin because I only use it for changing clothes, hygiene, or sleep. I love the social areas on the ship. There are many inside places where one may look out upon the sea and sea life and peruse the shore. I have found quiet places both inside and out to read and relax. I have had a balcony suite and enjoyed the view, but not the cost, as I could see just as well in the common areas with the luxury of going from one perspective to another. I’ve traveled with family, groups, and as a couple.

Sailed back in June worst experience ever for me and my wife first cruise if I choose to cruise again never with carnival smelly over crowded food horrible best things we ate were burgers and tacos rooms were very clean and nice sailed to Bahamas cruise didn’t make it to princess Kay’s a lot of passengers where complaining about rooms and bathroom smelling wasn’t worth $2200 my opinion

I totally agree with you, I am a single traveler. when you add up the time you spend in a cabin it is not that long. I would say on average I save half the cost of a balcony. Therefore I cruise twice as much
