It's hard to have good self-esteem,when it feels like everyone is judging you.

That’s when it’s the absolute hardest. Sometimes all that can be done is to enjoy solitude until you can truly say you appreciate yourself and won’t allow anyone to change your mind about it. It isn’t something easy, but it’s a wonderful accomplishment. I wish you the best!

Having a decent level of self-esteem is so important and I can't stress it enough. It's sad when people with lots of potential face more struggles to reach their goals because of their perception of themselves. This video made me think about a book excerpt I had to read for a class that explained the link between the environment where one grows up and the development of their attachment style/self-esteem. Even if we are told countless times that we shouldn't pay attention to the mean things others may be telling us, we are still permeable to those words, especially when they come from trusted people. It's not cool to learn to avoid voicing our needs because it sets us up for many problems as adults. Those thinking patterns are strong and hard to change once they're set up. The part about calculating/overthinking everything is relatable, I do this for the most basic things and sometimes it's really annoying but I've gotta do it anyway 😂

You’re absolutely right. It’s very sad. Yes! I’d love to look more into attachment styles. I feel like it’s so much to tackle and I haven’t done it yet lol. We have to be super careful with how we handle others’ words, and with who we spend time with, because you’re right- we can only be so solid! Okay GOOD because I could calculate and organize all day. Very well written Melody!! Thank you!!

yeah, self-esteem is very much like a roller coaster for me but as i zero in on my issues and gain more self awareness, it increases my understanding and thus, the forgiveness and empathy for myself. your questions at the end pretty much hit the nail on the head as to how we can frame our thinking when something challenges our self-esteem and/or makes us feel insignificant or just like something is wrong (sometimes it just isn't easy to know for sure lol). it is all about putting things in perspective...that way, we can kind of isolate our emotions from the logic. emotions are important and useful, yes, but they can definitely be an obstacle to growth if we are in a constant dysregulated state. i also think you stating that as adults, it is our responsibility to hype ourselves up - so true. if we don't do it, no one will. your locs are looking so greatttttttttt!

Self awareness is such a useful tool/ability. I really like the way you’ve written this, and I completely agree! It’s very important to PRACTICE isolating emotion and logic, because it’s extremely hard for some of us. It can take so long to get used to doing it, but it’s so helpful. And I definitely can see the rollercoaster self esteem in a lot of us. My goodness it requires so much time and effort to begin correcting and re-routing our thoughts / beliefs, but what a journey it is- and it pays off! And thank you soooo much!!
