Switch Blur with Great Escape and we have same ranking. 13 is the most Blur-sounding album to me, if that makes sense. The soundscapes are complex yet simple. And Modern Life is Rubbish is supremely underrated.

Being Green Day season I've been through the trilogy again, and yeah, it's full of simple fun songs like Baby Eyes, I have it on loop in my mind these days. Perhaps what I still dislike about GD's new era overall is how clean the vocals sound, like you hear their live presentation and it's a world apart in terms of vibes. I still remember when fans uploaded the 8th Avenue Serenade live version before Tré dropped or when Green Day released the Let Yourself Go live footage, both leagues above their album version counterparts.

Great review. Totally agree with the trilogy being a fun listening and your opinion about Saviors...cant wait to see them play homecoming and whatsername live on the tour. Will be so epic

I love that Switchfoot album. But I gotta add that the track "Adding To The Noise" is pretty awful. Such a shame. The rest of the record is great. That's the only stinker and it STINKS. Just a lazy, corny riff. Sounds like it was written by 15-year-olds just learning to play guitar. lol.

It's a good album but I wish the rhythm section were more integrated into the song writing. They have one of the best bass players in the world and he hardly does anything interesting the whole album.

Bought this because of the Narcissist, first listen thought that was it but man, this album is grower, great production, really nice guitar, really like it 🤠👍

And the two bonus tracks are great and essential!

Alright...so it took a thousand listens to go from thinking "Yikes! eeeeeeekkkkkk" to "HOLY SHIT this is a FANTASTIC album with Damon at his loveable best!"

I enjoyed this but it really irks me how you pronounce the word 'Leisure.' It is pronounced Le- and not LEE.

The world still has great digital audio players. Which can also stream spotify, but also all your wav, mp3, flac files and what not.. I know most people just want their phones to play everything and rely on just streaming platforms. But I will forever be the type of person with a dedicated music device so I'm not just listening to cruddy compressed streaming audio.

This is my fave album this year beating Depeche Mode and Maisie Peters.

Love sticks and stones and have ordered the Japanese cd after you said their was one . I think if the rabbi and sticks and stones were on album would have been even better its an amazing album anyway. Great choices on your own song list of tracks on album. Great deluxe edition was surprised about getting the deluxe cd too as like you i order deluxe cd separately. Your track list is great and the swan as closer is better. Take care joe

Im loving the new queens of the stone age album the mandy indiana debut album which is kind of a mix of lcd soundsytem nine inch nails and some electronica. Also the new blur,caroline polechek,model/acritz and kelela albums too

The album actually surpassed my expectations tbh it feels very genuinely emotional and very loungy reminding me of new arctic monkeys a tad bit but better imo. I think the album length is good too because it flies by and never drags on. 8/10 for me my favorite songs are the balled, the narcissist,avalon and barbaric

Easily their weakest album ever. Although it has a lovely atmosphere, it feels more like Everyday Robots with a few teaspoons of The Great Escape. I'm afraid Damon is losing his touch...

So, my favorite track is Sticks And Stones!

I felt similarly to you after hearing the standard version but the bonus tracks the rabbi and Japanese bonus track sticks and stones are classic blur bangers and if you add them to the album and replace some songs it becomes a great blur album for me! Similar to magic whip where there are too many slow songs for me on the standard edition but the Japan bonus track y'all doomed is classic blur! They leave the best songs for bonus tracks! My tracklist would be: 1. The ballad 2. St Charles square 3 barbaric 4 goodbye Albert 5 the narcissist 6 Avalon (I think the chorus is really fun and could imagine Damon jumping up and down to it so it's banger for me) 7 far away island 8 sticks and stones 9 the rabbi 10 the heights Long comment I know!

It took two or three listens to get to this point, but I love this album so much. The Everglades and The Ballad are probably my favorite. I think it’s so cool that Damon finished the half a song demo for the ballad. Definitely different from their discography but the instrumentation is so beautiful that this album might go down as one of my favorites
