The Gorillaz thing sounds really nice!! I’m very happy about this direction.

Honestly, i’m glad they are going back to the traditional album. While i loved Song Machine, probably my favourite release since Plastic Beach, and while it flowed nicely together, i missed the thematic cohesiveness found in their earlier work. The carnival stuff sounds like a throwback to phase three’s original concept and the grimey aesthetic is something i dig, which checks out with Jamie’s recent artwork on IG. Also, Song Machine was such a novelty, making a second part so soon might feel overkill.

The new Damon album sounds very much like an album full of "One Percent"-esque tracks from The Now Now.

You should do a video about your entire music collection.

Would love something more like the first Gorillaz album again, it was always my favourite. It's always felt like the most interesting and creative album from Gorillaz as well, something I feel has been severally lacking in the latest albums. All the later stuff feels very generic pop to me, where as the first Gorillaz album is this weird mash up of a bunch of different genres with Damon's own spin on it and that's a big part of why I love it. Something else I really love about the original Gorillaz album is that it didn't have a million guest artists and it was mostly Damon/2D singing. I love Damon doing stuff on his own and I like his singing as 2D, especially on that first album. This is another thing that really bothers me about the later Gorillaz albums, way too many guests. And on top of that, something else I prefer about the first album is that Damon didn't put that weird speaker effect on his voice that he uses all the time with Gorillaz now. Almost every Gorillaz song that's he's sung on since Humanz has had that effect on his voice and I hate it. It was cool when he did on Feel Good Inc, but not when does it for every song. I honestly feel like it was the success of that 1 song and the fact that it sounded cool there that he's now really overused that effect. The first album didn't have it at all, Demon Days only had it a little bit, Plastic Beach had it but I still didn't think was too overused, but since Humanz it's just all the time and I'm really tired of it. I remember being super happy that the Now Now was mostly going to be Damon singing, only to be really disappointed that 1. he used that speaker effect for every song 2. the songs were still very generic pop and kind of all sounded the same to me and 3. I feel the general song writing was really lacking as well. The song writing is another thing that I feel was done way stronger with the debut album, Demon Days and Plastic Beach, especially the debut album and Demon Days. Demon Days is particularly strong with it's writing and themes, but I also love how the first album is written. It's a little strange, but I also really liked it, and I much prefer it over the more cliché love and party songs from Humanz, Now Now and from what I remember of Song Machine. So yeah, I would really love if Damon could capture the energy of the first Gorillaz album again. I'm kind of doubting it honestly, given just how far Gorillaz has strayed away from that style since it was released, but I'm hoping he can pull it off.

Woah a lot of news. Was wondering when the gorillaz/Damon Alburn content cycle would start for 2021. Since he seems to always do something every year. My theory for gorillaz this year. I’m guessing song machine season 2 would be further away (2022) and to make up for it they might release a shorter gorillaz album so the wait isn’t that bad. Wishful thinking because my dream for gorillaz is regular albums + song machine since I like both formats.

Very interesting. I'm actually looking forward to the new album of gorillaz on how they do it. Also I truly hope the blur reunion shows happen for sure
