I got my bike tested. I was talking to the tester. He said most 2 strokes pass because the oil in the exhaust reduces the NOx emission.

It's to late , was not always evident the dangers of totalitarianism, I'm 46 and it was clear at school as a child unearned respect being demanded to strangers while having to sit in classes of filthy scumbags you can't really stand , absolutely no choice at ! It's far to late to stop it now , you just have to comply and tough it out , to late to stand up protests mean nothing theres threat of danger to to authorities that you oppose and if you was you would face zealous policing or your own military to deal with you . The technology for anpr cameras came about in 1976, and they started to be used on UK roads since 1979. This situation we are facing has been gradually introduced and most of the country is under surveillance - just like China..

China implementation of camera technology is different to the UK. Its used to deter people from violently attacking people. That's why you feel safe in any big cities. You can walk in any big city in China at any time and not fear being mugged raped. You can leave your vehicle in any street and not worry about it being damaged stolen or worse. The government in China has to be seen to be making a vast majority of people's lives better, that is how it has remained in power for so long. There are ninety million people in the "communist" party over 80 percent approval rating for the communist party. I HAVE BEEN TO CHINA AND IT IS FAR DIFFERENT TO WHAT YOU HAVE BEEN TOLD TO BELIEVE. In this country its not what you know but who do you know in high society that gets you forward. and exempts you from all kinds of obstacles which is placed in front of you. You want tax free alcohol, then become an MP, there's a bar in the houses of Parliament which is tax exempt. Want to be tax exempt, then be the King of this country.want £300 per day then just go to the house of Lords as a Lord, sign in a book then just walk away. That's covert corruption.

I've met the guy with the TZR250SP (at the start) up Portsdown Hill a number of times. A very nice, approachable man who has a bike I covet beyond words.

I never knew the RD350 was still available to buy new in 1991 ! That explains why we never got the FZR 400 in the UK. There is another route to take with bikes & that is to obtain the certificate of conformity from the manufacturer & submit it to TFL to have your bike put on the exception register. I have done this twice now with a Carburettored 2004 Honda CBF600 SA4 & a 2005 BMW R1200GS

I believe they were made up til ‘95 or so, but as the RD 350 R that was made in Brazil. Thanks for the tip. I’ll speak to Yamaha about this. Might save me £175 for a test!! Cheers!

I called Yamaha UK and they told me that Certificates of Conformity came out in 2005, although there are a few models prior to that there are none for pre-2000 bikes. Good suggestion though and this may help others - thanks again!

Certainly cars and vans. Strange though that the regs for cars is different in ULEZ. A 2007 Mazda RX-8 that costs £600+ a year to tax because of it’s appalling emissions is actually ULEZ compliant and doesn’t have to pay. Odd that. Maybe it’s not really about air quality after all?

Yet another reason why not to travel into London! But what if you have to on a daily basis? it's just another tax!! Seems a petty pathetic thing to do! So they will force everyone to buy and run electric vehicles, well two things; one, the national grid would blow a fuse if everyone was to charge their electric vehicles overnight, and two; the " congestion, or pollutants from the electricity generation at the power plant, will pollute the atmosphere just the same, and those polluted clouds will disperse its pollutants over london just the same! I think that motorbikes make up less than 1% of the total vehicle traffic in this country. So I doubt that there is any measurable harmful emmissions. On top of that, majority of riders are mostly dry day, weekend warriors these days, as am I, doing less than 100 miles a week and for only about three months of the year. The government is just deflecting attention from industrial pollution from factories, power stations, airports, train stations, motor sports, lorries, buses etc...

I agree with you. I don’t think motorcycles have an impact on air quality. After all I think it was the issues around diesels that changed the focus from CO2 to NOx which is what ULEZ is based on. So it’s not a global warming/environmental charge it’s supposed to be a clean air one. I’m running a poll to get views from people on if my smokey 2-stroke would pass the ULEZ clean air test. I’m going to put this to the test next month to find out!

Ulez isn't going anywhere go and get the emissions test done As long as your bike is standard it will pass 175 quid yes not cheap but then ulez free forever My 1999 65k zx7r passed and that was stopped production in 2003 yes you have guessed it because of the emissions! Yes it is a total con for bikes as other schemes around the UK bikes are exempt not Mr Khan though
