The Roger McGuinn signature model is built like this. Great guitar to play.

Hey Sean, there is also a Roger McGuinn model, I believe based on a D28, that has the G- octave string also! I had my hands on one once at a GC, they wanted a lot of $$ for it. When I went back the next day with $$ it was gone!! I've been looking for one ever since!! I even took a less expensive Alvarez, drilled another peg hole in the head stock, and cut a new nut and bridge! It just was not quite the same. So I took my Aria 12 string, and used 6 plus the G-octave on that! With a pickup, that worked better! But I'm still looking for the McGuinn Martin!! I like your new "look" there my friend!! 8) Take care, Peace --gary

Interesting! I thought it would be a low B string. It actually looks easy to play. Thanks for sharing!

Played one of these a few years back, circled it over a few weeks and wish I'd grabbed it then! Nice they've re-issued it - that high G really makes a difference.

That’s so funny. I was recently wondering why there aren’t acoustic 7 string guitars - and coincidentally, here we are, lol. But acoustic players are really good at using the E string like a drone string, so maybe it’s a silly idea. I don’t think it’s silly, though. Interesting that this guitar has the added string on the treble side. Imagine using this guitar with a partial capo or a full capo - could be fun!

Love the look of that guitar. Perfect body type. Not crazy about changing 7 strings.

It's funny because the 7th tuner almost blends in and you don't notice it at first until you look.

Wow, what's the one string that breaks in the most on a 12-string? the thinnest, the high G string! This 7 String sounds like a terrible idea to me.

I was just sitting here playing in a drop tuning on my acoustic and thought about the idea of a 7 string and foind this love Jonny Marr seen him play twice. Is there one string double or 7 individual? What tuning are you using?
@seandaniel2313 күн бұрын
Yes it doubles the G string so I was playing it in standard

Martins are great guitars, no qualms about that, but I'm curious to hear Sean's take on the new Yamaha TAG3's.

And then you need a five string, like Keith Richards...

This may be a dumb question but, do you have to buy two sets of strings for this to get the second G string or can you find a special seven string set?
@Lionheart35211 күн бұрын
Do you still have access to the guitar? I’d be interested in how it sounds downtuned

@@adayatatyme I know it sounded weird. I think he said two G's . How is that going to work with playing chords?
@bbeacom7419 күн бұрын
The Gs are an octave apart. Like a 12 string. You fret both strings as if they're one.
