I've been using Crayola colored pencils all my life. That's almost three decades and I've even done professional commission pieces with them.

5yrs after this video post and I must thank you. I FINALLY understand the missing piece of the puzzle for my portrait art. I’ve watched countless videos, read numerous articles, blogs, etc. on color theory, and this video was the only one to make the “ah-ha” connection in my brain. It has perplexed me as to why I’ve struggled with the concept of making accurate shadows, which is seemingly straightforward, so thank you for providing the piece that made it click in my brain.

Not an artist, but your segment on Pale Rose is a reminder for coloring book enthusiasts youn and old to SWATCH THEIR COLORED PENCILS. There are no surprises to be expected when you swatch ‘em out beforehand, right?

2/7/23 My coloring skills are that of a 1st grader in a 70 yr old mind filled with anything but color theory, how to blend, shade, erc. I'm lost with pencils, paint, and markers. Then in comes Jenna Turin with a sneaky crayola video Now I'm hopelessly hooked! I still can't pick a true yellow or green, but it's been days and I haven't quit. I watch listed, practice, and start all over . Thank you! You're videos are amazing and you aren't trying to sell them like everyone else on pinterest. Thanks a million. Now, if only I knew where to see where your subscription ended up. How can I see it? I'm newbie to youtube. Thanks happily learning at 70 :) Vivi

What paper did you use?
@jennaturin98852 жыл бұрын
Printer paper from the copy room at my job! 😅 So regular paper you would use in a printer. I stack a few on top of each other when I blend and shade to help make my marks softer. When I create nicer drawings I love to use smooth Bristol board with colored pencils. However, all my videos feature printer paper.

This is a great video. I have been working on mastering this skill in my coloring. I can not believe I have been coloring as long as I have and just recently realized I never use this technique because I often just grab a warm or cool gray which does not work in yellow tones at all. This fixes the issue.
