I think Naughty Dog failed with the story still. Especially naming them part 1 & 2. This leaves no room to go back. It would have made more sense to name them titles. Such as the last of us Joel & Ellies Story & The Divide: Abby vs Ellie. Something like that. Then that 4 year gap we could have had a game still with Joel, Ellie & Tommy. But by naming them chapters. Theres no chance of Joel coming back to the series. I don’t care about Abby or her friends. Theres also no special bond, thats where the story falls flat the most. Especially putting the death in the beginning hour. Because you know the rest of the game is a vengeance quest, and backstory of a character we never needed. It was a dumb decision. I consider the 1st the game & prequel dlc the only for this reason. Now that a 3rd one is development I can only imagine how bad it will be.

One thing I've noticed about this game is that most criticisms of contrivances or "plot holes" are the result of people who just straight up didn't pay attention, or even worse, didnt even play the game. I could list examples, but there are honestly so many that I don't know where to start.

To be honest, I'm really conflicted about this game I really LOVED gameplay. I had the most fun playing it. But the story... When I finished it, I was like, "is that it?". Like, the first game was probably my one of the most impactful games of all times. And it's not "blinded by nostalgia" thing. I've replayed both SM1 and Morales game before SM2 and it was just as great as I remember. Don't get me wrong, SM2 has a good story, but I felt like there was much more to tell us. Like, if you have two Spider Men in the game, make the game just twice as long. And also the lack of post-game is frustrating. Like, I've platinumed it in one weekend on the release. I used the game to swing around New York a few times after that and then deleted forever because I have literally nothing to do there. At this point, I'd prefer not to have an open world but to have a bigger story. Overall, maybe I set my expectations too high due to the past experience and literally craving the game every day before the release. I used to be a big defender of the game before the release by the way. Always told everyone how it's fine that the game's short and here we are

They did the same basic villain three times. Doc Ock Peter's Best Friend/ Mentor, The Tinkerer Miles's Best Friend, and Harry Peter's Best Friend. This is impactful but there are other ways to make the audience care about a villain. The next game will probably be Green Goblin and will probably be Peter's Friend/ Mentor. It all works fine but it is repetitive.

I honestly thought that after defeating trolls in hogsmeade, Sebastian and Ominus would go on adventure and solving main quests with us like the golden trio in Harry Potter🥲also not hating on Natty but gryffindor’s companion should be Garreth instead, his quests for rare potion ingredients and mischief in hogwarts are far more interesting than defeating ashwinders, also giving players options to play as werewolf or animagus and meeting veela and mermaid would be amazing

800+h Piratelegend here, beware this review is from a pvp-focused mind. As a PvE Master i would say there are 2 Camps in this game and it is basicly a predator-prey system. I met a shit ton of pirates who do not attack on sight, can be talked/engaged with, respect a parlé and can be quite friendly and helping eachother out so both crews have a better, more satisfying time spend on the seas. Also pvp-focused players tend to forget the riches that are commendation who encourage grinding events and different non-pvp gameplay elements to go for nice unlockables for ship and player cosmetics. Also just the other day i outsmartet some annoying reapers by just traveling to the shores of gold (which is not accessible without a certain late-game tall-tale active) just to protect my loot from them. So what i try to say is the game is basicly 30% pvp mechanics and 70% pve mechanics so focusing solely on pvp is in my honest opionion just scratching the suface of a briliant game. I can say the flood of ps5 players sadly brought in a lot of shooter-players which tend to prefer the reaper experience instead of the advanturer experience and therefor annoy us solo-sloopers and pve-lords but as harmony seeking pirates we endure those floods until the next big shooter game drops on all platforms and those people leave behind more room for us adventurers. But kudos to rare because they tend to have a good hand in bringing new features to the sandbox to balance the 2 camps so the servers never get too dangerous for pve-players or to boring due to few "prey" available for pvp players. As of season 12 and upcoming season 13, i would say the seas tend to become sligtly more dangerous for adventurers when it comes to features but we will see how these seasons influence the camps.

I’m genuinely pissed at how soft Disney is when it comes to how they treat lightsabers. Yes, it is canon (in both Disney canon and legends) that a lightsaber can be made “sharp” or “blunt” by turning switches or knobs on the hilt of the blade, however no matter what they still have cutting power. It’s so pathetic how scared Disney is of making their products family friendly that they dial back something so integral to the Star Wars fan culture. Kids shouldn’t even be playing games like Fallen Order and Survivor in the first place. The original concept of blunt lightsabers traces all the way back to the original trilogy, where it was hard for practical effects to make dismembered humans so they had Luke treat the saber like a baseball bat. You’ll often notice that stormtroopers kinda just fall over like they got hit with a wooden board when Luke slashes at them. George Lucas had to explain this, and so used books and comics in what is now Legends material (and then was explained in Disney canon)

The scene with Bode’s home at the ISB headquarters is so tense, and I love it. You know that Bode hasn’t begun fighting because 1) he knows Cal has a lot of questions and 2) because Kata is there. If Kata wasn’t there, Bode’d have ignored the first reason and started throwing force hands.

Rick the Door Technician is my favorite boss fight… because you have this very cocky scout trooper who, despite his boss health bar, has normal amounts of HP, and you can just wipe your ass with his defeat so easily. My favorite way to kill him is to lift him up into the air, then slam him down, then up again, then slam him down, then up, and then down again. 3 of each, and he dies. You disrespect him so hard

I didn’t really get the self insert vibes from the book you mentioned. I think the problem more was that it was marketed as an in between title, when it was really a Merrin spinoff. Cal and the rest of the mantis crew don’t have a whole lot of focus when compared to Merrin, which isn’t inherently bad, but leads to let down expectations. I also think based on the authors prior works that it’s aimed at a different demographic than the games, with a greater emphasis on romance. That made me personally enjoy the book a lot more, I’m a hopelessly romantic gal, but again that’s not clearly marketed as the book’s primary focus. The issue with the book isn’t the book itself. It’s a competently written story with good characterisation and interesting interpersonal dynamics, but it’s *not* a Jedi fallen order sequel. Book talk aside, great video! I totally agree that the high republic wasn’t as fleshed out as the rest of the story, even if the main story itself is incredibly compelling.

People were initially very confused at how Cere very nearly killed Vader. “He’s Vader, nobody is as strong as him!”… except it happens quite often in the comics. Cere technically only reached the level of Jedi Knight, however her skills in the force and lightsaber combat matched that of a master during her time as a Survivor. The video does go on to explain that she let go of her fear, and this is true and it does further explain her increased levels in power. She is delved into the Light Side, giving her a large advantage against Vader. Yes, Vader is actually nearly killed. He barely hobbles away from the fight, and it is canon in this event that he was going to lose if not for his quick thinking very last second. He only won because Cere did a very dumb move in leaping at him instead of being caution. She honestly could have killed him if she didn’t get reckless and hasty towards the end. However, that would end up screwing with the entirety of the Star Wars timeline from that point on XD

I will say that the “Fix It Later” mentality, while it did apply to Jedi: Survivor, does not fit Cyberpunk 2077 as the intro suggests. The devs, CDPR, were essentially forced to by the gaming community because they announced the game in 2012 and started development in 2016. In other words, fans had been waiting for it for 8 years and it had already been in development for 4 years when the gaming community was getting impatient.

I never liked the story one bit. The gang is continuously making the dumbest decisions I would never support in real life. It’s like being stuck with idiots and being unable to get rid of them. But I do love the game for its open and very beautiful world that you can explore to your heart’s content. In that the game 100% excels.

I couldn’t agree more. RDR2 is a masterpiece. My favorite game of all time. I am nearly 60, have probably close to 2000 hours of game time, but have never played chapter 6. I really, really hope RockStar makes a RDR3 that I get to play while I’m still able to. I am worried because they haven’t even hinted at it. I hope that after GTA6 releases, maybe we’ll get some news. P.S. I don’t know how you managed to not get spoiled on the low honor ending. I can’t…yet…bring myself to play chapter 6 so I just restarted from the beginning several times, but I have seen both endings. One day I will, though, because I want to go to New Austin without a glitch or it being perpetually dark.

that's a really good review and I agree with you on most points, especially when it comes to loot and NPCs, cut and paste dungeons and repetitive merlin trials. I would prefer all different and fewer over more of the same. But having gripes about this game makes me feel a bit ungrateful considering the environment is beautiful and charming. They really put their heart into this game, especially the castle. It made me wish I could be there and there's so much to see and explore. I also just loved that this character was always so well dressed! Though I give this game 10/10 what I hope to see if there's another game or a sequel is: 1) more towns to explore 2) more consequences for actions -(i.e. losing house points if caught stealing, not attending classes on time, accidentally casting a spell in town, etc) 3) interaction with other students 4) maybe being in class more-studying for tests & interacting with your house room (books./desk/sleeping, sitting)...

I played through the game twice and I enjoyed it a lot but what I dislike most, is that no action really has any sort of consequence. You go around the world killing people left and right and nobody cares, dialogue options always give pretty much the same outcome and the side quests are all the same. (Don't get me started on the "kill this many of every type of enemy" collection that you need for 100%) The game feels like the spent hours and hours crafting the world and the grafics with an incredible amount of love and then they came closer to a deadline and were like "oh damn we need quests" I will definitly play it again because I love the game (and creating my own unicorn herd)

I'm also incredibly polarized on this game, I love it, I hate it, I come back to it and leave half way through, it sucks because I want to like it. I think the events of the Last of Us 3 will make or break it for me. Joel deserves for his death to have meaning, even if he had it coming based on his actions in the first chapter.

No one is gonna talk about how… Spoiler* Dude used the killing curse on Isadora and the other keepers didn’t say or do anything about it? I’m a huge Harry Potter fan and I love this game so much: the environment, the quests, the characters, the story. But I do agree that some stuff was repetitive and tedious. Hopefully quidditch and dating will be added next and character interactions and dialogue will impact the game. The wait time for avada kedavra needs to shrink significantly tho without having to use any mods.

The gameplay, characters, dialogue, visuals and graphics in this game are absolutely amazing. It's worth playing again just to walk through Hogwarts. Even after playing this game for close to 80 hours (and getting very close to 100% complete) I still don't know what to expect to see when walking around the castle. The Forbidden Forest is still fun to explore, and mysterious. The scenery, the story, the characters and the dialogue are the best parts of the game. I won't start over and play the game through again though. Fighting the enemies gets repetitive and once you are strong enough to crush every enemy easily it feels redundant to keep doing it. How many dugbogs and goblins and poachers do we need to kill? That part of the game eventually became tiresome. I've done just about everything you can do in this game and there isn't much else I can get out of it. I really hope they make a sequel.

This is my go-to game. Everytime I start it with the I mention of just playing through the story and avoid all side distractions, but I just can't do it.
