Thanks for the kind words and recognizing the Work. In Late June the Sun Road may NOT be fully Open due to snow. Also note the reservation system has changed for 2025 and the SwiftCurrent Parking lot will be close in 2025- only a shuttle can get you there- well to the Many Glacier Hotel Lot! this is a big deal if planning to hike trails. Also note many of the trails won't be open that early in the season. I'm recording VO to update my What you need to know for 2025 this morning to help explain these changes. In the mean time become familiar with the park website!!!! BTW- I've ridden a bicycle from La Cross to Lake Geneva.

In the summer of 2013, I rode my bike from Orlando to Northern California. The only time I ran out of water was in Utah. @TheWestisBig8 күн бұрын
also- you only need a reservation from 7am - to 3pm this year. so you have an extra hour. Also, no reservations at any east side entrance. but- Swiftcurrent motor inn is closed in 2025 and so is its parking lot/ car park. there is a hiker shuttle to the car park from the many glacier entrance. Btw- the new law went into effect this month. No restrictions for film crews with fewer than 6 members!! 😀

Oh, competition is hurting my views too. I haven’t been to Banff in 10 years. It seems very expensive now, have you found reasonably affordable places to stay? I stayed in Banff, Canmore, The Crossing- halfway to the ice fields- and Num-ta-jah on Bow Lake- which was great but expensive. I’m trying to make the finances work for a trip up there myself.

Most important….. you do need a park pass if you take a red bus tour nothings changed there. You mentioned here you don’t need a park pass they’re included in the red bus tour…The tours originate from various pickup locations on the west and east side of Glacier National Park. Be sure to bring your Park Pass or park entrance receipt on the tour. There are no physical tickets for the tour so please check in at the Front Desk or Concierge Desk at the property at least 15 minutes prior to the scheduled tour time to ensure on-time departure. Tour duration and return times are approximate and may vary slightly. Open and closing dates are also subject to change.

If a guest on our tours doesn’t have a park pass they can buy one at the gate when we stop there.

I have never been here, this seems amazing. It's going on the short list! Thanks for the video! Just a couple comments, from the comfort of navigating via Google Earth/Street View. ;) The map and verbal description (at 0:59) are confusing. ("...past the Canyonlands Entrance...") The Entrance/Visitors Center on the map is for Dead Horse Point State Park. From Google Maps, it looks like to get to Islands in the Sky Visitors Center, you take 313 but then continue straight on Grand View Point Rd (what you have labeled as "Canyonlands Road"), rather than turning left and continuing on 313 into Dead Horse Point State Park (see the map). (The turnoff for the Shafer Trail is at: 38.471495, -109.811501) Musselman Arch is about 3.5 miles (roughly) from the Potash Rd turnoff, looks like you turned around here: 38.454833736011224, -109.77414214100708. You had about 2 miles to go to Mussleman Arch (38.436324698360814, -109.77052037745432). These were nits/FYIs, but I'm really impressed with the area and the video. Maybe we'll try this in 2026. Thanks!

Been to all of them except the Shafer Trail and we have done the northern part the Notam trail. You did leave the best places off this list tho Yosemite and Yellowstone. We have been to Glacier multiple times and it seems like weather or road closures always get us when we are there.
@TheWestisBig18 күн бұрын
First thanks for subscribing. I’ve been to both Yosemite and yellowstone a couple of times, but before i started making these videos. I still contend Glacier is better both of those. 😀 The drive from San Fran isn’t great - as i remember, though crossing the first range was nice as is the back side to Death Valley. Both parks have amazing scenery but the crowds and the high cost of staying nearby or in the park is more than i can afford! These vids rarely earn enough to cover travel costs. I am thinking about another trip to Yellowstone though - maybe in May or June.
@AmericanWanderers18 күн бұрын
@@TheWestisBig Yes the mobs are heavy at both parks, but both are gigantic, the size of small eastern states and you can get away from most of the crowds. Something like 98% oi people in Yosemite are in the 1/4 mi by 7 mile Valley. Hike up to Cloud's Rest for solitude. Yellowstone has a more dispersed mob but most are in the geyser basins or in a few more spots. Hike out to Hell Roaring Creek, I don't think we saw 10 people total when we did. The views are not as spectacular as Glacier at YNP but you cannot get to those mountains so far as we could tell.

@@TheWestisBig Its well worth it, the drive north up 93 from Mackay Reservoir to Challis, there's mountains on both sides of you. I spend the night at Lost River Dam campsite along Mackay Reservoir and OMG. From Challis, 75 south to Stanley, you are driving in an old river canon, you will come across an old shack with the Sawtooth Mountains in the background, a truly epic camera shot. If you drive past Stanley a few miles on 75 there is Little Redfish Lake campground that's well worth the stop. West of Stanley, 21 about 13 miles is Stanley Lake, first morning light is magical when there's nobody around and the lake is like glass. I've haven't seen drone coverage of this area, but it must be excellent. My favorite time is late fall or early spring when there's snow on the mountains. I hope this help you.

How did all the dinosaurs out west get buried so quickly as to avoid the predation that we see today where the bones get dragged off by animals. There's thousands of intact skeletons all over the earth but that shouldn't be the case if we're talking millions of years to bury them? But a massive flood? Now that could easily account for so much of what we see all over the world. Like great salt flats at high altitudes on every continent. But a giant flood is uncomfortable because it makes us think about sin and the Bible and of course we just can't have that now can we.😁

Good video with some spectacular and beautiful photography, but some of the information needs subtle correcting. First, the Rio Grande Rift denotes a spreading of the earth's crust and a sinking action rather than a lifting motion. The lake in which the gypsum was deposited didn't come from a much earlier sea level inland sea but from a lake formed in recent geologic history at the same elevation as it is now. The Tularosa Basin, in which the sands sit, is a Gräben Basin which fell between the eastern and western mountain uplift that parallel the basin. The gypsum came from the San Andres Mountains to the west, where you can indeed see the layers of whitish gypsum that was deposited in Lake Lucero and eventually dried, crystallized, and blew as gypsum sand (still doing so). The eastern mountains, the Sacramentos, have horizontal layering but theirs is limestone and not gypsum.I am not aware of an "Area 19" in New Mexico, but there is a notorious one in Nevada. But the vast majority of this documentary travelogue is very informative.

It's a shame they made a money making racket taking away our freedoms. Those parks were set aside for all citizens to enjoy. $225 fee to film is ridiculous because everyone carries smart phones and do live videos. All the restrictions and rules ruins and destroys the fun. Everyone needs to take a stand and fight back and protest for their rights, freedoms and liberties.

The most recent evidence evaluation on the 23K year old human footprints is skeptical at best; much more scientific proof is required to make a determination on that date! The Geo-archaeology work continues at White Sands as of December of 2024. I’m from and live in NM my great grandfather Philiipe Jacobi ( Jacoby) whom immigrated from Bavaria/ Austria to the USA in the early 1800s, joined the Army and was stationed at Fort Union around the time of the Civil War and settled in Las Vegas, NM after being discharged.
@TheWestisBigАй бұрын
Hmm. Where are you getting your info regarding the age of the footprints? A 2nd study published in Oct 2023 confirmed the 23000 yr date. And as of Sept of 2024, the Las Cruces NM printed a story which sites the 23k date. Please attach a link to your source so I can check it out. Research at the site will continue for many years as more human and mega fauna tracks are exposed each year. And... if you haven't been to Ft. Union you should go. You may even find a pic of your Granddad or his name on a roster.

It's always been against the law to video and post on social because it's an antiquated law enacted well before the internet was even a vague idea. Back then the reasons were valid but nobody realized technology would change like it did. It also isn't just for national parks but covers all federal lands. Fortunately the Explore Act was recently passed through congress and once signed by the president changes the law with all of this. Look up Explore Act for more info on it.

SUCKS THAT AMERICANS ARE CROWDED OUT OF OUR OWN NATIONAL PARKS BY FOREIGNERS IN THE NAME OF MONEY. I USED TO GO TO MOAB IN THE 70s AND 80s, GET A MOTEL RIGHT IN TOWN FOR $18 AND CHECK OUT THE PARK. IN 94 I WENT BACK TO SPEND A WEEK. THE MOM AND POP MOTELS WERE ALL TORE DOWN AND REPLACED BY THE BIG MONEY CHAINS. WHEN I WENT TO THE PARK { OCTOBER { I COULD BARELY GET IN THE VISITOR CENTER AND ABOUT 75% OF THE PEOPLE WERE SPEAKING FOREIGN LANGUAGES. ILEFT MOAB NEVER TO RETURN. UNFORTUNATELY, MOST OF OUR PARKS ARE THE SAME. THE BIG MONEY PROMOTES OUR PARKS OVERSEAS. THEY GET RICH AND US AMERICANS ARE SOL. IM GLAD I GOT TO SEE MOST OUR PARKS BEFORE ALL THIS STARTED.
