0-300kph in a Mercedes-AMG GT R at NATRAX, India's brilliant new auto test facility | Autocar India

It's been a long time in the making but NATRAX (short for National Automotive Test Tracks) near Indore is now open. Hormazd Sorabjee celebrates the occasion with a 0-300kph run in a Mercedes-AMG GT R on NATRAX's 11.3km high speed test track and also takes you on a quick tour around the 2900 acre campus.

It would have been spectacular if the high performance cars were cheap in India as in USA and the Middle East. If that ever happens, the petrolheads and the auto enthusiasts would able to purchase their dream car without any hesitation.

@@itdoesntmatter9923 It is not minuscule, just observe how many people buy cars priced between 40L to 60L and non of them is a V8! (Ridiculous taxes or else higher displacement/power cars could've been common in our country) . Also If new cars are in above mentioned bracket then definetly one could get pre owned somewhere 25L 30L, which would have been accessible to even more number of people.

You see, it's more about that we don't have factories making high performance cars. So we have to import them and that makes it a costly affair. Only if there is a high demand for them and it is profitable for the companies to establish their factories here they will start producing it here and than we can get it for a lower amount, but for that the government has to make efforts...You can see the situation with tesla and why still they haven't decided to build a factory here even though its cheap to produce, it is because of the differences in government and their shortcomings...

My god ! This is heaven for speed recorders , love this track, but i didn't need anymore than a Virginia International Raceway to test my 220hp Raceprepped R1's top speed of 230mph, about 350-370 kph. ! Wonder what more is about to come, i am very excited about all your new reviews and tests on this track !

I don't think they'd let the public go VMax in their Toyota Innova and then have some Alto driver suddenly turn into the middle lane without indicators as is often the case on highways. Only trained and trusted drivers should be allowed because its so dangerous.

Now, it is time to add train coaches that transport cars/bikes to Indore from other parts of the country. Also storage (paid) areas for vehicles. Making a couple of days a month open to public on a 'pay per use' basis
