I agree they need to bring them back. I love me some 2 stroke. That Honda 250r was the best back then. I had a 85 Suzuki 250 and a 87 Suzuki 250. The 87 was leap years better then the 85. You know liquid cooled better suspension. But it just depends on the driver. My 87 was the faster bike but I could out ride my buddy if he was on the 87 and I was on the 85. The best upgrade I ever did was put a twist throttle and got rid of the thumb throttle. That quad zilla was the beast but a little big for trail riding.

He's going for the most torque. I know 2 strokes make more torque as the rpm increases but they have a " band " they are producing peak. If you keep the rpm in that band while letting the trans do all the work then you get faster acceleration.
@chrislayne4272 жыл бұрын
Yeah I don't even think he needed top gear, he could have let it eat and got 60 pit of 4th or 5th depending on machine.
@tomtee44422 жыл бұрын
Torque Wins Races not high RPM horsepower shifting. In racing Shifting at higher RPM's feels faster, more wear, more tear on parts - everything, sounds better and definitely feels better and definitely better for show boating 😁! In any racing ATV - Car test and tune at the drag strip against the clock. To high of RPM's you slow down, more wear, more tear and eventually high RPM's kill parts and your engine eventually!!! I use to shift a 468 cid BBC to 9,200 on the street after so much wear, tear and finally engine catastrophy. I shift my engines at 4,000 on the street or playing around and shift not alot higher at the track. Here's an example I once had an old stock Monte Carlo and me and my friend used to race this bronco on the street. My friend drove the car because I couldn't get another ticket or I would walk the DMV would take my license. Well my friend was driving my Monte Carlo he let the engine wind up so much it leveled off before shifting into second gear and the bronco started to pull on us. I told him to shift it and the second right when he did we rent around the bronco. So when we raced the bronco again I told him to shift it earlier we went around the bronco a lot sooner because we're pulling stronger in the torque RPM band at a lower RPM. Torque wins races not horsepower. And as I always state on building an engine I would much rather have more torque than horsepower with any engine being used on the street or the strip. Torque is what pins you to the back of the seat not horsepower. The biggest thing I see with Street or strip racing going too big intake valves, heads, cam, headers and more killing torque!!! Unfortunately years ago I did this too.

That Honda 250r 3wheeler was the shit back then and now. The old tri-z look funny as hell and you couldn't keep the front wheel down. I never got to ride the kawasaki 250 hell I forgot the name of the kawasaki. I would take any of them now along with there 250 4 wheeler. Those were the good days so long ago. Nice shifting in this video. He didn't even miss a shift. Good job!
