For the record, the maximum possible number of moves to solve a Pyraminx (optimally) is 11. This doesn't include the tips, just rotating the bigger triangles. I actually went frame-by-frame and copied his initial setup into a Pyraminx solver (because I'm insane!) and the optimal solution was 3 tip moves and 3 bigger moves, which is what it looks like he does in the video. So he spent 8 seconds analyzing it and found the optimal solution, which is pretty cool! Maybe seasoned solvers can all do that on a partially-solved Pyraminx, I'm not sure. The commenters saying he got lucky aren't totally wrong, honestly, because the odds of getting an initial position which takes 3 or less moves to solve is about 1 in 2,700. That being said, kid analyzed it in 8 seconds and solved in in

@@fulltimeslackerii8229 To some extent that's the nature of the sport. i don't know the rules and wether the clock has to be stopped when the pyraminx hits the mat, but i have slowed it right down and managed to pause it when he actually finishes it. The time came out at 0.681 Absolutely incredible.

that's right you don't know the rules. It's a special timer device (cube timer/ cubing timer) you start and stop time by both hands applied to the buttons/ fields left and right of the clock

I know it's not in the rules but I'd prefer that they would start the timer when he actually sees the puzzle. For me this seems like a math puzzle and they would time the time how long it takes to write the answer. Technically he starts to solve the puzzle when he sees the puzzle. Still it's really impressive how fast they can solve them.
@mehcoolbro
@mehcoolbro 2 жыл бұрын
Exactly. The part where you actually solve the puzzle is when you see it. The part where you turn the pyramid is when they are executing the solution. The world record is for who has the fastest hands, not who has the best solving skills
@Stuwie2x2
@Stuwie2x2 2 жыл бұрын
@@mehcoolbro Agree, Altho they have like max 12 seconds to see and solve the puzzle according to the rules. But still, one could take risks and try execute the solution in less time.
