The Growth Spiral and Explore comparisons fail to account for how Timewalk is "free" (assuming it resolves). The "cycling" mode of Timewalk, where you have nothing in play and cast nothing else that turn.... is essentially "0 mana draw a card, on a blue card". That's not Growth Spiral, that's pretty much Gitaxian Probe. Which is banned in modern, legacy, pauper, and restricted in vintage. So still pretty damn good, even in the "worst case".

I'd love to see a similar style of game as this (starter deck vs. competitive deck), but with the starter deck being able to see the opponent's hand and being able to search their library for any card whenever they would draw. Essentially posing the question, could a starter deck beat a competitive deck if conditions were perfect.

Haha, I really enjoyed watching this. Please more of that kind of content 😆 Actually you guys playing with starter decks more often in general, where you then upgrade them gradually to meet the contemporary demands of competetive playing would kinda be interesting to see more of. The typical base rakdos deck content of Ragavan, Bowmasters, Thoughtseize, Lightning Bolt etc. is probably one of the best to test against, because of how popular (and really annoying to play against...) it is. And also because it forces you to change up your starter deck significantly to have significantly better answers. Plus a starter deck might make you play with cards you wouldn't normally choose to for obvious reasons, but occationally might leave you surprised with how effective certain cards can be in the right context of a deck :)

But it is the closest comparison. It's even supposed to take place in the same world. Apparently defeating the 5 wizards results in their knowledge of making dungeons was leaked to the general populace. They're all over the place now. Not short either. But it(the deck) really isn't viable. For comparison - a knight, a high-ish tier white enemy starts with 63 health on Impossible difficulty(you start with 8, but there are ways to raise it to around 30). Rakdos Scam just can't output THAT much damage. But it's a competitive deck, so it's kinda excused. It's supposed to deal 20 fast.

14:17 Judge here. This is incorrect. Because the target for the ephemerates was removed, they fizzled. Rebound exiles the spell as it resolves and lets you play them next turn, but since they never resolved they were removed from the stack and put into Phil's graveyard. They do not rebound at this point, however since Phil has no creatures this makes very little difference... except 14:19 If however they HAD been in exile ready to rebound and Phil had no creatures (as the game looked after that first misplay) they would still not rebound, because there is no legal target to cast the spell, they can't be cast and are left in exile permanently. Though this does technically put the game back where it should have been.
