Glad you still make videos, ever since I picked up my X I been following you, have a 02 that was garaged for 12 years 50k miles, been stripping it all down because it sat..Thanks! Great videos!

For a car sitting so long...rubber hoses will probably leak everywhere! Good luck! I still make videos...just been a busy year with other projects outside of the Xterra...home improvement, land scape renovatioms, etc. Let me know if you have specific ideas for future videos.

Nice...next video is on leaking evap fuel hoses...lots of old dry rotted hoses under the rear of the vehicle by the fuel tank. Glad yours is on the road!

@@XterraRob Yea I got rid of all those hoses to the tank, and popped a new fuel filter in ran 3 bottles of berryman b12, only thing i gotta take care of is that knock sensor. Nobody in my town drives a X modded just runners i see or jeeps. Good stuff man.

Thanks for sharing this video. I will be replacing the transmission hoses on my '02 Automatic 4x4 xterra and this helped a lot. I have two xterras, both 4x4. One auto and one manual, both 2002.

Hey, Rob! Been following ya for a while now, and I just started to get a leak on the passenger side hose. Quickly Googled the issue for the path of least resistance to solve my issue and once again I'm brought back to you! I'll be ordering those clamps direct from Nissan and grabbing the hose from O'Riley, hopefully knocking it out this week. Thanks again!

Fairly easy fix...but it is kind of cramped with the fan shroud down there. You can do it!

So you were just able to bypass the factory transmission cooler with no other modifications? I've been trying to find good information on this and honestly this video is the most help.
@XterraRob2 жыл бұрын
I did not bypass the stock cooler. I plumbed my external cooler in line with it so the transmission fluid went from the transmission >>> external oil cooler >>> radiator oil cooler >>> transmission. If you want to run am external oil cooler only, it is easy enough to bypass the one in the radiator and just have the external one.
@kaylabeitz14642 жыл бұрын
@@XterraRob just running the external, does it cause any issues that you know of? I don't want to cause more potential problems but I'd like to increase the life of my transmission for sure.
@XterraRob2 жыл бұрын
No issues at all...just make sure your rubber lines are the proper size and the seal integrity is good with proper clamps: IE legit spring style clamps and not the worm gear kind. Only issue would be leaks at the hoses. One other thing: if you are in a very cold climate, you don't want your fluid to be too cold. That was why I kept the radiator cooler inline so the hot coolant allows it to warm some even if it is cold outside.
@kaylabeitz14642 жыл бұрын
@@XterraRob I'm in Southern California so it doesn't get too cold here. No snow unless I go to the mountains and that's only at certain times of year anyway. Thank you for the help, your video are really informative.

Sound like it will work pretty easily for you then! I used a Hayden automotive one from Amazon I think. Pretty good quality and no issues. Just measure the space you want to mount it in and make sure you get the right size.

Hey Rob you Ever try parts from The Nissan Navara D22 they have a insane UCA set up, Im sure you know already but their aftermarket support is huge compared to ours, and it fits the X.

Looking at the radiator, which port is the inlet and which one is the outlet for the transmission cooler? I cant find a drop of information on it.
@XterraRob3 ай бұрын
I was hoping no one would ask because I wish I had documented that but never did. I knew at one time because I test started my engine one time without the hoses connected (oops!) and saw which way the fluid shot out. Messy way to answer your question…but would work. You doing a transmission cooler?
@XterraRob3 ай бұрын
I know I plumbed my external cooler so fluid goes directly into the external cooler and out of the external cooler into the radiator based one. I didn’t want my ATF to get “too cold” in the winter.

Hi Rob, what is the Nissan part number for the clamps?
@joelsanchez42262 жыл бұрын
any leaking from those new clamps after a few weeks?
@XterraRob2 жыл бұрын
Nope all dry!!!! OEM clamps are definitely the way to go here. Worm gears did not work well on the small hose. The area under the gear was flat instead of rounded, causing leaks.

Those stupid lines leaking killed my Jatco transmission. Don't mess with these lines if they are not leaking.
@XterraRob2 жыл бұрын
Yeah man...its often best to leave them alone. For me though I had to remove my radiator a few times...to replace the radiator, do timing belt, etc. They had been leaking and brittle for a while...and the transmission cooler lines I added did not help at all.
