I am so happy to see that you will be making videos with an emphasis on RF. There is in my opinion too few Amateur Operators which do any home brew of their equipment. Simply said: There are builders and communicators HAMs. I belong more to the builders ;-) i hope like you to attract younger people because I will focus on newer technology. That is why I choose wireless and not HAM Radio.

As telecom (GSM) engineer we were first limited to 35km cell radius on 2G. Then they came with the idea of extending it to 70km (using 2 time slots). Then Ericsson came with 100km radius. All of that with maximum 33dBm (2W) of mobile phone power. Now, with 5G we are at... 100m cell radius. A circle of laugh ;-)

But 4/5G of course, with a little higher bandwidth ;-) BTW: I did not know that 2G had such a range!

@@HB9BLA that comes from Timing Advance and the length of the frame. So to use longer range they developed using 2 time slots to increase the range (but the capacity of 1 channel went down from 8 Full Rate time slots to 4). Anyway, 2G is a history. Btw from 3G onwards wise brains developed CDMA ( code division multiple access): all transmitters use the same frequency but each communication channel (peer-to-peer) is coded with the unique code so I know you talk only to me even though I can hear everybody on this disco)

Idea for next video about modulation. Why for example AM modulation gets sidebands and not just variation of carrier frequency amplitude. I found out aplitude-time graph of AM signal in many textbooks misleading. So maybe some words how mixers work. How modulation and demodulation of different modulations is done. IF frequincies etc. Otherwise congrats on new channel. I bet we will be all able to learn something new even if we already have a license.

We for sure will talk about mixers. But maybe not the ones most people think of... We probably will not see a lot of Superheterodyne Receivers on this channel. There are other good channels for analog stuff. I try to give it a twist to the newer SDR technology.

There is interesting project by DL2MAN that figured out how to create SSB transceiver with Arduino (ATMega328p) and Si5361a. A SDR style transceiver. It's interesting that nowadays you can convert most of analog electronic signal parts into software code.

Hello Andreas, One question. Why does the bandwidth limit the amount of data per time? Couldn't you just pack the data much closer together so that more data fits in the same bandwidth? Is this a hardware limitation we are currently driving? What defines how many bits fit in 1Mhz? Thank you for this Channel. Regards Sergej

It is the other way round: The bandwidth is an effect of the data rate. The relationship is physics and cannot be changed. It just can be optimized. You can Google Shannon or Nyquist if you are brave ;-)

Bandwidth is defined as bits per second I believe so if you were to change the amount of data you send over a period of time you are actually changing how fast you are communicating and this changing it’s bandwidth

I would like to add on a clarification, bandwidth is defined as the maximum speed the data can be transferred but it does not mean it’s the speed of the transfer currently. Think of it like a pipe, bandwidth is the maximum amount of water you can push through the pipe at a standard pressure (pressures change so ignore that for this example)

@@bestcreations4703 I do not know if this is true. If it is, it is very simplified. I am more interested in understanding the physics behind it. If you take an Ethernet cable as an example. A CAT 5 cable runs with 100MHz and transmits 100mbit. CAT5e also uses 100MHz and transmitted 1Gbit for a long time, now even 2.5Gbit and 5Gbit. Yes, the protocols are getting better, but the bandwidth cannot be increased by a factor of 50just by protocol, if there is a physical limit. How is definition for bits per Mhz.
