Unfortunately, I never did the video on frequency standards. And yes, we use SSB and I also did not understand why it heated up without a signal.

@@HB9BLA Pity about F standards. The amp was Chinese - your choice of bin is probably best. It's a long time since I did this kind of thing but a single output transistor means a class A amp (?) which are nice and linear but inefficient. Maybe the quiescent just cooked it without enough cooling.
