I love that JW Pepper doesn’t cause an issue or get in Bond’s way. He just gets super excited to see Bond again and, upon realising he’s stumbles into a chase, he goes all in on it without regret. That’s how you write a good side character with actual character 👌🏼

I think the reason why the J.W. Pepper character isn't universally despised is because, for the most part, he minds his own business. He does nothing to crimp Bond's style. In fact, Bond's world interfers with his life more than J.W. ever interfered with Bond's.

@ Mister Schubert. The AMC car corkscrew stunt jump off the curved ramp in "TMWTGG" was unfortunately ruined by (1) John Barry ridiculously including a toy flute sound as the car slowly twists and turns in mid-air in that scene and (2) the slow-motion film technique utilized in that scene. They should have shown the car jump off the ramp in normal speed.

@@michaelbarlow6610 yep, I agree that the slide whistle was worse than unnecessary, but I didn't mind the slow-mo. I think it was a post-production decision as the regular stunt may have happened too quickly for audiences of the time to register what happened, or thought it was fake.
