I love that JW Pepper doesn’t cause an issue or get in Bond’s way. He just gets super excited to see Bond again and, upon realising he’s stumbles into a chase, he goes all in on it without regret. That’s how you write a good side character with actual character 👌🏼

My family visited Thailand around 1971 and took a tourist boat ride on the klong and yes kids really did swim out to the boats to sell stuff. i thought our boat ran over a kid but then his hands appeared over the sides of the bow and he pulled himself up and climbed in. The guy driving the boat had no problem with it, business as usual on the klong

I think the reason why the J.W. Pepper character isn't universally despised is because, for the most part, he minds his own business. He does nothing to crimp Bond's style. In fact, Bond's world interfers with his life more than J.W. ever interfered with Bond's.

Clifton James was a superb dramatic and comedic actor! He was excellent as an aviation expert/scientist in an episode of "The Six Million Dollar Man" TV series. He was also superb in the Kevin Costner film, "The Untouchables".

The AMC car corkscrew stunt jump off the curved ramp in "TMWTGG" was unfortunately ruined by (1) John Barry ridiculously including a toy flute sound as the car slowly twists and turns in mid-air in that scene and (2) the slow-motion film technique utilized in that scene. They should have shown the car jump off the ramp in normal speed.

@@michaelbarlow6610 yep, I agree that the slide whistle was worse than unnecessary, but I didn't mind the slow-mo. I think it was a post-production decision as the regular stunt may have happened too quickly for audiences of the time to register what happened, or thought it was fake.

Supposedly, Moore was told not to ingest any water if he fell into it during the filming of this scene. He did eventually fall in, but saw under the water what the locals did with the bodies of their elderly. That must of been a bit horrifc.

20,000 Baht, that was decent huge sum of money back in 1974. Back then according to my grand parents, Mercedes Benz 280S (W108) would cost you 240,000 - 260,000 Baht. Most Japanese car such as Toyota at the period would cost you approximately 70,000 - 90,000 Baht. Most Swiss Made wristwatch would taking you another 4,000 - 7,000 Baht but Patek Philippe would asking you for 20,000 - 30,000 Baht or more. Thai ice coffee, Oliang, or Gopi would cost you 0.75 Baht to 1.25 Baht Average daily meal would not exceeding 2 or 3 Baht.
