Far Out! What a Final. And Puskas the trainer of SMH, super! The NSL was special regardless what the FFA thinks. I recommend Joe Gorman's book, "The Death and Life of Australian Soccer " an excellent history.

Like many others, that day and that game was THE most special day of my life. The crowd, the atmosphere from both sets of fans, the dominance of Melb Croatia throughout, only to be thwarted by Pala in the 88th...then the noise from Hellas Army! Absurd penalty shootout...I remember sitting on the ground high up in the eastern stand (couldn't bare to watch Davo "slot the winner"....then Silic...rest is history. Then 3k fans back to Middle Park for more crazy celebrations...unbelievable!!! I didn't at the time but I do feel sorry for Croatia fans when I re-watch this...and I've watched this over 300 times...HELLAS! HELLAS! HELLAS!

South Melbourne won its second national championship, beating Melbourne Croatia on penalties after a tense 1-1 score line in normal time. A massive crowd of 23,318 gathered to watch probably the most enthralling national league grand final ever in May 1991.

@@Kriti98 Rubbish, South has been in Heidelbergs shadow for over a decade now even Oakleigh is a far superior club than South. South has had inferior crowds, results, financial situation and have been close to relegation whilst Heidelberg has won the threepeat and been one of the most successful clubs in league history. Never mind, South was a great club last century.
