And I thought our winter was bad! ( but it has) thing I dislike is how many people keep driving like its summer. Not all, but some!

Luckily we could afford snow tires here near Boston

@@DARWINZOO snow tires are better than nothing...snow tires are not good in ice...

@sherrcon I know how to drive at least and you're absolutely right. In fact, they can make people over confident. Black ice is a while nother kettle of fish. Nothing like a 360 on ice. I just go really slowly and let them honk!

I experienced this 2 years ago, the snow is wet and stuck to my windshield until I couldn't see out. There was 9 inches of snow over the pass and semi trucks with chains could not move on the slope even with chains. Tow trucks were able to put vehicles into tracks on the highway. Under the wet snow were inches of ice. They get a lot of moisture there all at once, more than you think.

''it's training'' a slow painful experience. what amazes me that way too many operators can not pass state testing in two or three tries

people are fooled thinking their all-wheel drive vehicle will get them out of trouble in snow/ice weather...

Now you why your told to carry tire chains and you best know how to put them on. You can't park on the side and wait it out. Just saying.

why does a Humvee need a tow? piss poor training

Not everyone is trained if there are new servicemen in the unit. Winter weather training doesn’t happen every month; besides, that costs training dollars taken from other needed training. I should know, I spent 23 years in the Army & 1985-86 @ Ft. Lewis.

Army convoy? What are they doing in Washington state that requires a convoy in a winter storm? Practice driving in bad conditions or....?

''training'' like the helio in D.C. during ''the battle of the bulge'' dad had a co driver from tennessee therefore had to do all driving unless it was a perfect cleared road some how he survived. even though WWII was just to stimulate the 'industrial/military complex and reduce population. perfect he didn't survive to collect antisocial security just as planned.

WA ARNG activated & called out to assist motorists & others needing assistance. Same thing happened a couple of weeks ago in Alabama & other Southern states to deal w/the 6-8” of snow.

That's not a winter storm. That's called "Saturday ".

This isn't bad. Awd works just fine. If it gets too bad, they'll put up chains required on all vehicles. 3 sets of singles and i get my semi (and trailer) up and down the pass with no issues.
