But when I recently visited my parents and sat down casually at their piano and started keying around, the melody of this song (or some approximation of it) just kinda came out. I don't know how or why. Apparently, this score and film touched me so deeply growing up, that now at 30+ years old, it popped into my brain and I just started playing it. Something about this theme touches me at a soul level. RIP Mr. Horner and thank you for your excellent work. I pray Disney doesn’t screw up this film or alter your score when they remake it.

This song is so part of my damn childhood, If I heard it on the side of a cliff when the harmonics drop I might accidentally jump off.

My uncle from New Jersey is a Rocketeer. Got into the space training after Korea. Actually it is my cousin on board.

One of the founding scores for my appreciation of film music. I still remember running into the mall to get a new score while my mom waited in the car. I came across this one and purchased it on the strength of James Horner's name alone. From the moment I popped the cassette into my Walkman I was enamored and blown away. I continue to appreciate it's beauty and majesty all these years later.

Mr. Horner, This is, by far, my favorite piece you have ever written. I adore the Scores you have done for other films, and though many won more critical acclaim than "The Rocketeer", it has always stayed with me since the first viewing, thanks in large part to your excellent soundtrack. Thanks for making good music! :)

Tv spots, Movie Trailers, Universal Pictures Logos, Kids films, Emotionally powerful blockbusters, magical nostalgia of old school, all defined James Horner. He had it all! Now that he's gone, we can't believe it's over, but his music will always live in our hearts. Listen to our prayers and we will listen to your music in remembrance. Your music made you a legend and it influenced us. We will never forget! Rest in peace Jimmy!
