You might need to ask them if they [physically] smell something you do. Or to ask them what something smells like to them.

I noticed that you discuss a stem-change verb that begins with “o” from approximately 3:10-4:21. According to the pattern of descension from Latin that Spanish follows, it is indeed against the rules to begin a word with an “e to ie” or “o to ue” dipthong which doesn’t only apply to verbs. The word for egg would be “huevo” and not “uevo.” That comes from the Latin word “ovum.”
