02-06 CR-V driver door lock actuator replacement

This is a DIY for replacing the door lock actuator on second generation Honda CRV. I do recommend using a #3 phillips for the screws that hold the lock assembly to the door, using a #2 will likely strip and use an impact drill if you have one available, it saves a lot of time and potential for problems.

Nice tutorial. The one thing that was a little confusing is the window rail disconnection portion. I have problems with drivers side rear door lock and trunk door lock only work manually. But occasionally I find the trunk door open, even after i locked it manually My car has been robbed twice because I forget to verify that those does are locked.

The plastic is a vapor barrier to protect from moisture. Good video though

Just bought a 2004 CRV for my daughter and none of the locks work. Not just with the fob, but also the switch on the door. It sounds like they are trying to do something but then they don't. My guess is one went out, then the others went out over time and they never got replaced. A mechanic checked the relay under the dash and said it was good. So if it's not the relay, could it be something else, or is my best bet to replace all the actuators? I would love for it to be something much cheaper, I'm not sure I have the patience to pull part every door and I never can get things back together.

I would replace the driver's lock and see if it works.

@@thericepatch3630 I forgot to mention that the driver's lock is the only one not making a sound so you are probably right. I just thought that the others would work even if the driver's lock didn't, but that's a good plan. It won't hurt to just try that one.

@@lafonstudios it may cause the others not to work, it may not. I know if it senses the driver's is locked it won't unlock the others in most models, but if it's unlocked it wouldn't keep them from locking.

@@victorjbarker I haven't yet. I figured I need to block off and entire Saturday if I am going to attempt it myself and haven't had the time, and all the shops around me are booked up and expensive. I get it's a lot of labor so I understand the price, but my daughter isn't complaining too much about having to unlock the doors manually so I haven't dealt with it yet. I hope to this spring when I can just do it myself.

I disassembled and reassembled 3x and the handle will still not open the doors

Try reprogramming the remotes.

Check fuse box under the hood at the right side corner (facing the engine not looking out the windshield). It’s a 20amp at the very left of the box. Fuse box lid (should) have the diagram on it.

my actuator assembly with housing does not have any screws :( I cannot get it taken apart.
