How to replace the front door lock actuator (latch assembly) on a 2007 Honda CR-V
Honda CR-V third generation: 2007-2011
OEM Honda part numbers used:
Part 72150-WA-A01 LATCH ASSY., L. FR.
Part 90103-S7S-003 SCREW, FLAT (6x18.5)
NOTE: When removing the 3 screws at 08:28, use a #3 Phillips head screwdriver. These 3 screws may be insanely hard to remove and you may strip them. I did not have an issue with this door lock actuator likely because it had already been replaced once before. However, if you strip the screw(s), like I did when replacing the rear door lock actuator, you can order replacement screws from Honda. The OEM Honda part number for the screws is: 90103-S7S-003 SCREW, FLAT (6x18.5).

Great video and detailed but 1 exception, do not remove the rod from the door handle! The plastic piece behind the handle always break. Instead just remove the plastic piece on the bottom of the metal Rod, and Put the new plastic coupling and you will save a major headache

One thing that I would have added is that many of the actuators do not come with the rod that leads to the outer handle attached. I had a fun time swapping that over. Showing how to remove and replace it would be helpful.

Awesome video Sir!! Just curious if the outer door handle rod that is attached to the switch doesn’t come with the new unit is it possible to reuse the existing rod? I couldn’t see how it attached to the switch but I’m assuming it should be able to. Thank you for the video and any assistance you can provide!

@tim71ford: Thanks! The rod definitely should come with the replacement unit. If for some reason you don’t have it I suppose you could reuse the old one. You can see a very brief glimpse of how it is attached at 9:41 when I pull the old unit out of the door.

When I put the lock mechanism back on it will only be stuck locked or unlocked. I am sure I did something wrong. Can anyone help?

@Joseph R: I’m not sure from your description what happened. Perhaps take off the door panel again and test it so you can observe the movement of the mechanism to see whether anything is hooked up incorrectly.

@@LongologoProductions Update. I removed the actuator and test for proper functionality. After confirmation I put everything back in only to have the same result. I disconnected the lock cable from the actuator, rotated the lock mechanism 180* and hook the cable back. This fixed the issue. The key is a bit rough inserting but the power locks work. The only issue I have now is that the power window is now not working. I will take the door panel off to check if something is obstructing the window and hope that is the issue. Any idea on that?

@@josephr9105 : good to know the lock mechanism works now. For the window I would check that the harness connector is seated properly so that it’s responding to the switch. Assuming you didn’t mess around with the window unrelated to the door right?

@@LongologoProductions I am going to pull panel and remove the harness clean it and put die electric compound to make sure all pins are seated. The remaining three windows are functioning so I might have to check to make sure I didn’t shear a wire or something. That’s a guess. I hope it’s just the harness is not seated properly.

I could only get mine half way off but once I did I used a foot long flat head screw driver and a hammer to break the old actuator and open the door
