I can agree with you on that one. My dad drives a one owner 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee V6 currently with 29X,XXX miles, brought it when we lived in New York and drove it to California when we moved. My mom got tired of him driving the same car for over 20 years and my dad would say that he'll buy a brand new one when this one dies. Then there's me, back in 2014, I saved up money from part time at McDonald's to buy a car. It was a 2000 Honda Accord EX (V4) with 136,XXX miles for 4,000 bucks. Transmission kicked the bucket in 2018 at 164,XXX miles and the mechanic told me that I was better off buying another 4000 dollar car because it would cost around 3000 to fix it.

What year is this crv ? And what other years are best ? I Read this - “ year is best? CR-V shoppers and owners can be confident that 2005-2006, 2008-2010, 2013, 2015-2016, and 2018-2021 are the best years for this compact Honda crossover. However, engine troubles and other problems suggest staying away from the 2001-2004, 2007, 2011-2012, 2014, and 2017 CR-Vs.”

@mikedonovan9033
@mikedonovan9033 3 жыл бұрын
@@dstewart7470 IMHO, they messed up the CRV from a design standpoint after 2006, mainly by making it less boxy and putting in a center console instead of a tree style shift lever. It really broke up what made the CRV interior interesting be in and and just made it like every other small SUV on the market. Mechanically though, yeah I'm sure it's great. Make sure it wasn't one of the first direct injection engines; Honda had real problems with oil dilution on those. If it's pre- direct injection era, I'm sure it's great.

I've had my '98 CRV for almost exactly 22 years and it has a little over 284K miles under her belt.. The first Gen V's are/were just crazy reliable if you made sure to adjust the valves every 30,000-40,000 miles. Mine is still running with the original starter,fuel pump, alternator(although I swapped out the brushes awhile ago), auto trans and engine. I've been meticulous on upkeep so I still occasionally receive compliments about it. In fact, some guy approached me two weeks ago in a parking lot and wanted to know if I'd be willing to sell it. I also have been running slightly larger tires(215/70/15's) for almost twenty years since I always thought the factory 205/70/15's looked puny. I also have a nice set of five-spoke wheels(Alessio Rally's) on it so there's never been one in my area which looks like it. I've always had a soft spot for the first two generations.

I just bought a 2002 but only bc someone ran my 1998 off the road. I really miss my first gen. This is still better than any other newer Crv (they ruined them after 2006). But, once life settles down I'm going to just buy a 2001. Maybe an EX this time. I also had no qualms about buying it w over 180k on it. I know with maintenance it'll (hopefully) last as long as I need it to.

That’s cool, my b18b1 1995 Acura integra had over 236k miles and it still ran great. Thank our Acura integras because the CrV is just a SUV version of the Integra… I put the 1998 crv knuckles on my 95 integra and it fit went from 14” Steelies to 17” aluminum RSX rims… and who ever said the newer CRv suck, well I’m driving a 2008 CRv now only problem I’ve gotten is bad starter already replaced, and the AC, other than that the K24 engine is a better more reliable engine than the B20, will last up to 300-400k mileage before it gives problems in the engine, more power and upgrades than the older models. Oh my integra also has Honda prelude axles to make the 98 CrV knuckles/bigger brake calipers & rotors work with it… and I’m not big into lowering my teggy.

My 2004 crv has been a champion. Normal wear and tear has been siezed brake caliper, warped rotors, Door lock actuators (all 5), Driverside window siezes, serpentine belt change, differential fluid change. Prior owner replaced a/c compressor due to issue with the stock compressors. The most serious cost fix was a valve adjustment that was needed because one of the valves wasn't sparking. Had to go through quite a few fixes and troubleshooting to get to that point at the honda center though. It was a $1000 cost fix. I keep buying tires thinking they will be the last set this car drives on. But alas, 50k miles later I buy a new set. I'm at 224k right now.

Haha, I had a caliper seize up on my 03 crv too, the drivers side rear around 100,000 miles or so. None of keyed locks on the outside of the car work, have to use keyless entry or I could climb through the back hatch of the keyless entry remote does. Actually installed the stock keyless entry for 50 bucks, came with the receiver and key fobs pre programmed. All the wiring is there from the factory and the plugs, it’s literally 50 dollar plug and play keyless entry. I thought that was a nice surprise since re keying the whole car would cost a fortune.

I had a 2002 manual Honda CRV... I loved that car.... I LOVED it. The only reason I still don't have it is because the previous owners didn't take care of it , gave it a very hard life (here in rainy Scotland) and the rear chassis was rusted through. Despite its 150,000+ mileage, the engine and body were practically flawless. Nothing went wrong. Nothing. Nothing was broke and everything just......worked. I just picked up a 2002 CRV with 140k on it. Single owner, all service done at Honda, The interior was showroom clean, very clean all around. It runs perfect, and I took it into my mechanic and he gave it two thumbs up. Other than he says quit buying these reliable cars I cant make money off you this way. Oh and I picked it up for 2k! Sadly someones mother died and he had to sell it fast because he was only in town for two days.
