It would be easier to disconnect the negative battery terminal first before you do any kind of electrical work.

I need to replace the on/off indicator light for the cruise control on my '98 Ram Cummins 2500. It burned out something like 20 years ago, and I could never figure out how to get at it until I saw this video. Thanks! Earlier today, I pulled off the dash bezel to replace the headlight switch, and two chunks of plastic broke off from the top rim. Inevitable, I guess, considering the 25 years of sunlight beating on it. If I want to just replace the whole bezel, they're only $50 on Amazon. Now that I know how easy it is to remove the instrument cluster, I could have replaced that burned out cruise control light a long time ago.

I can't upload pictures to someone else's video but I got a replacement dash top and bezel from LMC TRUCK I've got the top of the dash in but the lower part is still fragile so you'll have to be careful but it looks great and it's as strong as it should be for a 20 year old truck.

It's much easier to take the 2 screws out of the selector out of the back of the cluster with a stubby Phillips.

Next time take the negative cable off your battery.stop the door dinging noise. Or when doing any electrical

can the clear plactic cover be removed to clean without removing the entire cluster?? Is there a differant removal for tyhe 1998 with the pull type light switch thanks

Replacing the headlight switch requires pulling off the dash bezel, as shown here, but not the instrument cluster. Always disconnect the batteries when replacing the headlight switch, so that you don't accidently short out any of the wiring when pulling the connectors off the old switch and getting them onto the new one.

Yup. Mine only comes on if it's under about 50° out . It just turns on the grid heater
