Remove and Replace 1999 Dodge Dakota Instrument panel

On this video I remove, inspect, clean and replace the Instrument panel on a 1999 Dodge Dakota 3.9
This was an effort to narrow down a no bus odometer code activated up on engine stall.
note: this did not fix the no bus problem.

I like the gauge diagnostics test. I am dead on every gauge other than the backlight.( just went out last week with a bad battery connection) I will try the test and then pull this out to hopefully find something burnt. 97 dakota 4x4 318.

Oreli, I am no mechanic but was able to easily install a cluster instrument panel on my 1999 Dodge Dakota after seeing your super clear and well filmed video! I called my mechanic to get an estimate for replacing it : $300 for the panel and $200 for the labor. After seeing your video I went to the salvage yard and bought one for $75 and put it in myself. Thanks so much for your excellent video!

No, I tried a different pcm and the same thing still happens. I'm starting to think its the transmission solenoids since the transmission is not shifting correctly. I will be swamping the transmission as soon as I can make some time.

Did you figure out the issue? My 2002 Dakota has the same 3 codes and the no bus

I have not figured it out but I'm thinking it's a bad transmission shift solenoid causing the computer to heat up and shut down. I hope to be doing a video soon on removing and replacing the transmission since I have a 1997 Dakota parts truck with the same transmission. I'm not going to give up on it, I like this pickup.

I fixed my no bugs stalling by replacing the Ecm.

Heat will warp the motherboard. The connections won't seat right. Next time you get a stall, play with the wires connected to it. If it goes away, it's the Ecm.
